Profile
Kanako Watanabe, better known by her Kanako Hoshino (星野奏子) alias, is a vocalist for BEMANI who joined KONAMI following a vocalist audition held by KONAMI in 2004 (the same one that Reiji Sakurai participated in). Since her debut she's sung nearly a couple of dozen songs for BEMANI, and written the lyrics to several other songs not featuring her singing. Her earlier songs were mostly done by DJ Yoshitaka, though she's also extensively worked with Keiichi Ueno and dj TAKA, among others.
In 2008, Kanako became affiliated with HIGH KICK ENTERTAINMENT inc., where she worked with artists such as ikutaMachine, Nao Harada, and Yoshiyuki Kinoshita. However, she continued to release songs and albums through KONAMI as late as 2011. Most of her songs since then have been licensed from HIGH KICK ENTERTAINMENT inc. She left HIGH KICK ENTERTAINMENT inc. in September 2016.
Trivia
- Interestingly enough, after her debut, Sanae Shintani, who appeared in quite a few arcade beatmania IIDX titles at the time, did not appear in any others after beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED (the game Kanako debuted in) until beatmania IIDX 18 Resort Anthem six years later, the only other beatmania IIDX arcade title to feature new Kanako and Sana songs in the same game. The only other BEMANI game to feature both new Sana and Kanako songs in the same arcade game is GuitarFreaksXG & DrumManiaXG.
- Kanako provided vocals on good-cool's second album, good-cool ultra expander, for the track Break Me Out. This is her only collaboration to date with good-cool.
