Release Information

DDR WORLD logo.png

  • Announcement date: May 7th, 2024 [1]
  • Release date: June 12th, 2024
  • Slogan: DDRは新たな世界へ (DDR enters a new world)

General Information / Changes

  • First DanceDanceRevolution arcade game without support for CRT-based cabinets or SD resolution. Other cabinet models released since DanceDanceRevolution X remain supported.
  • A new announcer replaces Justin and Wil-Dog from Ozomatli, which were in use since DanceDanceRevolution X.
    • First game since DanceDanceRevolution 5thMIX where the announcer makes a comment upon breaking a combo.
    • First time in any mainline DanceDanceRevolution arcade title where the announcer makes a comment during language select and e-amusement login.
  • The SPEED modifier has been reworked into the HI-SPEED (ハイスピード) modifier, allowing players to adjust the scroll speed in increments of 0.05x. It also shows the approximate maximum, minimum, and main scroll speeds when applying this modifier.
    • SPEED can only be changed now in options.
  • CONSTANT modifier added; arrows fade in as they reach the Step Zone depending on the current BPM. This is exclusive to Premium Play and Galaxy Play.
    • This was previously used in DanceDanceRevolution A3 when playing as the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE song in the BABY-LON'S GALAXY event.
  • FLARE gauge options can now be selected for any song in Premium Play.
  • A new FLARE gauge option, FLOATING FLARE, has been added. Starting with FLARE EX, the FLARE rank will automatically change to the next lower rank when the gauge depletes, all the way down to FLARE I. The FLARE rank at the end of the song will be the final rank achieved. This is exclusive to Galaxy Play.
  • Gauge depletion for FLARES I to IV have been lowered. New recommended scores for each FLARE rank are as follows:
    • I: 800,000 (previously 920,000)
    • II: 850,000 (previously 930,000)
    • III: 900,000 (previously 940,000)
    • IV: 930,000 (previously 950,000)
  • Options that could only be changed by visiting the official site can now be changed in-game.
  • Icons that show if a selected chart has freeze arrows, shock arrows, stops, and/or speed changes have been added to the song selection screen.
  • Folder Clear Lamps have been entirely removed.
  • Individual song Clear Lamps have been replaced by icons:
    • A rainbow "MFC" for a marvelous full combo.
    • A golden "PFC" for a perfect full combo.
    • A bright green "GFC" for a great full combo.
    • A bright blue "FC" for a good full combo.
    • A red "CLEAR" for a song cleared on LIFE4 gauge.
    • A blue "CLEAR" for a song cleared with a regular life gauge.
    • A purple "CLEAR" for a song cleared with any assist settings enabled.
  • All dance backgrounds have been removed and replaced with a generic green background video, with any unique videos showed in little boxes in the bottom center of the screen during Single or Versus Play, or on the middle edge of the side opposite the player during Double Play.
  • STEP ZONE backgrounds feature EMI (1P) and RAGE (2P) in them.
  • Many older songs' displayed BPM values on the song selection screen now reflect their actual sync (for example, PARANOiA's BPM fluctuates between 170 and 184, and the song selection screen now shows those values, rather than 180 BPM as displayed in previous games).
  • Aside from the scale change in DanceDanceRevolution X, DanceDanceRevolution WORLD contains the highest number of difficulty changes in a single DanceDanceRevolution game.
    • Most songs rated Level 1 have been changed to a higher level.
  • Tohoku EVOLVED no longer displays its "Pray for All" message when clearing the song.
  • DDR SELECTION has been removed.
  • Life gauges other than LIFE4 can now be selected for EXTRA STAGE.
  • Time limit for difficulty selection has increased to 30 seconds, from 15 seconds in previous versions.
  • All returning player data from DanceDanceRevolution A3 will transfer over to WORLD, except for ghost scores, final play time, and course results.
  • When entering the e-amusement PIN, the buttons no longer play the first four notes of PARANOiA.
  • The GROOVE RADAR has been removed.
  • All NONSTOP and DAN courses present in DanceDanceRevolution A3 have been removed.
  • First mainline version of DanceDanceRevolution that does not display "Here We Go" when gameplay begins.
  • First arcade version of DanceDanceRevolution since DanceDanceRevolution (2014) with no "HOW TO PLAY" or tutorial feature.
  • All of the songs from DanceDanceRevolution A3, including the ones exclusive to the 20th anniversary cabinet are unlocked except for:
    • KONAMI Arcade Championship (2023) songs, which are still exclusive for KAC players until July 1st, 2024.
    • Songs and charts from DanceDanceRevolution GRAND PRIX music packs that weren't unlocked by default prior to end of DanceDanceRevolution A3, which still require an active subscription and music pack purchase.
      • The rest of the new songs from BPL S2 music pack will be available by default on July 31st, 2024.
      • New charts from SPECIAL music pack feat.UNDERTALE will be available by default on August 30th, 2024.
