Nageki no ki
None of my previous songs had such a difficult birth like this one.
No, I'm wrong. It wasn't that it was a difficult birth. I didn't know what kind of song I should create.
I've created many ONE MORE songs so far. I wasn't worried about it until now.
However, this time, this is a king of kings song, which appears after defeating the four kings.
Furthermore, these Four Heavenly Kings are all recognized as talented people.
With all that in mind, what should I create?
Drum'n'bass? Should I go with happy hardcore? Or Baroque mixture?
No matter what image it has, it's still just a king. Time merely passed without being connected to the king of kings.
Existing styles won't work. It needs to be something unprecedented in the IIDX series.
--- Something unprecedented.
From those words, I remembered a certain type of music.
Atonal music.
Around the 1900s, some musicians who were tired of existing music concepts such as do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do, started studying to create completely new music which fundamentally overturned the existing musical concepts until then. Although this "experiment" received praise from a minority of music fans and continues to exist in various forms, many people's sensibilities made it difficult for them to accept, and it's extremely rare for it to be part of major music scenes.
By the way, there's a theory that minimal techno was developed from one of those techniques, the twelve-tone technique, but I'm going off-topic, so let's discuss this another time.
I attempted atonal music from 100 years ago. Isn't this perfect for my current mental state?
Having said that, I just vaguely remember these stories from music class, and I don't have any knowledge of contemporary music. However, I don't have time to learn this now.
Relying on just my own senses, I created a barely unclear and uncomfortable sound. There are no chords or scales that you can think of when creating a normal song, which feels like adding pieces to a jigsaw puzzle.
However, the middle section became so difficult to figure out, that I couldn't understand it myself as a maniac, and since it clearly wasn't going to be accepted by many people, I added a Baroque-style development in the middle section, which completely incorporates the essence of video game music.
This is the song that I made, named "Nageki no ki" together with GOLI, and that's how it was born.
Come to think of it, this song probably wouldn't have been born if I didn't make a king of kings song.
While I simultaneously had a mysterious sense, I'm grateful to beatmania IIDX for giving me this kind of opportunity.

That lamentation fuels me.
It was quite difficult. These animations might've been the most difficult to create....
A big boss which surpasses the Four Heavenly Kings. This song's contents are simply large in scale, so I needed to make them according to these contents. And I needed them to appear throughout this song for a long time without ruining its atmosphere. This was quite difficult.
If it's already like this, even though this abstract image doesn't have a name like God, I thought about trying to pick up mentally ill humans with troubling emotions.
Such related words flow underneath the cabinet's monitor. If you have free time, say them all. They're all just tiring words.
These clustered emotions seem to be gathered as evil things in the present day. I tried to layer the animations with a "tree" image. That's spinning round and round in the depths.
Those shapeshifting gods surrounding it... they're the respective Four Heavenly Kings that were already defeated, and they have the image of a spirit revived by the "tree" of "lamentation" surrounding the present day.
I also tried to make "Nageki no ki"'s exclusive frame appear gold to match Kinjishi's name (Golden Lion).
It has the image of useless, disgusting, and ominous debris left behind by greed.
The Four Heavenly Kings planned to incorporate fantasy elements in that way, so how was it?
I think it was difficult to make in various ways, but good job to all the main staff involved in the Four Heavenly Kings project!
