Profile
Hideyuki Ono is a former in-house KONAMI composer. Joining KONAMI back in 1997, he was best known for his work in the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series. His jazz-based sound, something that wasn't very common in BEMANI, often made use of trumpets, horns, and other brass instruments in his songs. He performed a wide variety of genres, including ska, lounge, swing rock, and 1950s rock. He was also known to work often with fellow BEMANI artist Jimmy Weckl, forming the unit Anettai Maji-SKA Bakudan (亜熱帯マジ-SKA爆弾). While most of his BEMANI work was in the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series, Hideyuki also appeared often in pop'n music, and made at least one appearance in a few other active series.
Hideyuki Ono left KONAMI on September 30th, 2014 [1]. Since 2015, he has been a staff member at FIVE LEAF CLOVER [2], which he joined at the same time as the establishment of Ono Music Office, his own private music studio.
Trivia
- Hideyuki was one of the few in-house BEMANI artists who didn't compose/contribute to a song for the 私立BEMANI学園 event, along with Tomoaki Hirono.
- Of all the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania games since his debut in drummania up to GITADORA OverDrive, GuitarFreaks V4 & DrumMania V4 Яock×Rock was the only one that did not feature any new song composed by Hideyuki.
- His absence from V4 is explained in the song comments for MU-DAI, as he expresses he wanted to take a break from composing songs.
- Since his departure from KONAMI, Hideyuki has appeared in CAPCOM's crossbeats REV. series, SEGA's maimai series, Rayark's Cytus series and the Japanese indie rhythm game nanobeat.
