beatmania IIDX Dan'inintei Courses
The Dan'inintei mode (段位認定モード, also known as Class or simply Dan) is a mode containing a series of courses ranked so that each course is harder than the last. The mode was first introduced in beatmania IIDX 7th style and is found in every beatmania IIDX games released since then.
The difficulty level of the highest rank course cleared is often used as an indicator of the overall strength of the player.
Modeled after the Dan (段) and Kyu (級) system for many martial art schools, players are ranked from 7th Kyu (the initiate level; 5th Kyu on Double Play prior to copula) all the way through 10th Dan (the highest rank attainable).
Each rank consists of a course of four songs (three on Double Play prior to copula).
In DistorteD, an extra rank above 10th Dan was added, called Kaiden (皆伝), that is designed to truly test a beatmania IIDX master's skills.
The following changes were made in copula:
- A new rank was added called Chuuden (中伝), as a bridge between 10th Dan and Kaiden.
- Double Play courses for 7th kyu and 6th kyu were added.
- Double Play courses were extended to 4 songs each.
