General Information
- ノスタルジア (romanized as NOSTALGIA) is a piano based music game, not unlike KEYBOARDMANIA. According to sound director wac, ノスタルジア is meant to be a "piano game for those who do not play piano".
- The piano design of the cabinet changed several times during the location tests, although the piano design on the final cabinet resemble to that of the first location test (white and black keys, but only the white keys are used for gameplay).
- Unlike the KEYBOARDMANIA series, players do not have to hit the specific key on the piano to match the note on the screen. Instead, hitting any key(s) nearby the scrolling note is sufficient.
- BeatStream cabinets can be converted to ノスタルジア.
- At the JAEPO 2016 location test, there was only one difficulty for each song.
- Expert charts can be unlocked by clearing Hard charts with an A grade or higher.
- Expert charts are available by default by using PASELI, though.
- BPM is not shown in-game.

WAY OF NOSTALGIA
WAY OF NOSTALGIA is ノスタルジア's main unlocking system. Every time a song is played, Croit (the black cat) moves up a Step on the stairs. Once you reach a certain Step, you unlock a song. Note that you have to play the unlocked song before unlocking another, otherwise the Steps gained since the last unlock will not count towards the next song.
Steps are accumulated between Chapters. The number of Steps required for each Chapter are the following:
- Chapter 1: I, 5 Steps.
- Chapter 2: nostos, 10 Steps.
- Chapter 3: 飽和世界, 15 Steps.
- Chapter 4: 変わりゆく時間とノスタルジアと, 40 Steps.
- Chapter 5: Noah's song, ? Steps.
Songs are ordered by unlocking order.
