beatmania IIDX 9th style

e-AMUSEMENT Support

Notably, 9th style is the first version of beatmania IIDX to be connected to e-AMUSEMENT, KONAMI's network for arcade machines. With it, you can save scores and clears to an Entry Card, allowing you to track them between play sessions like on the home versions.

EXTRA STAGE

To trigger the exclusive EXTRA STAGE songs for 10th style, you must clear a level 8 song on ANOTHER as your FINAL STAGE with the HARD gauge, and receive a grade of A or higher. Assist modifiers can not be used. Doing the same with the special EXTRA STAGE song will then trigger the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, locked to ANOTHER difficulty.

Note that you do not return to the song select screen in between the two, so any modifiers you use for the EXTRA STAGE will also be used on the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE.

From beat#2 onwards, both songs are available for normal play, and the special EXTRA STAGE can no longer be triggered (the interface may still be used by entering the SAMURAI code on the title screen).

Unlocks By Play Count

The following songs are unlocked when you register a certain number of plays on your profile, alternating between new songs and revivals every fifteen plays. Naturally, an Entry Card is needed to unlock these.

Secret Options

JUDGE

When enabled, shows the current judgement data during a song.

  • Hold the EFFECT button and enter 7-6-9-8.
  • If done correctly, the text CMD: JUDGE should appear on the top left of the screen

SAMURAI

Enables the special EXTRA STAGE interface for beat#2 onwards. You must still achieve the regular EXTRA STAGE requirements, and you can not trigger the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE even if you meet the requirements.

  • Hold the EFFECT button and enter 3-1-7-3-9-1-1-2.
  • If done correctly, the text CMD: U A SAMURAI should appear on the top left of the screen
  • If you also have JUDGE enabled, the text CMD: JUDGE & SAMURAI is visible instead

EXPERT VIEW

Enables showing the list of songs of an expert course on expert mode. Only works when the machine is in beat#3.

  • Go to EXPERT mode
  • Hold the Start button, then press 2-2-1-1-3-5-3-5-7-6. Button presses should be done according to your playing side.

Beat phases

As with previous releases, beat phases are entered in the operator menu, by selecting "GAME OPTION" and holding Effect while entering a button sequence. Codes must be entered in order (you can't enter beat#3 unless you've entered beat#2). Beat phases can also be changed by updating the game to a newer revision. Different game binary revisions have different beat phases enabled. Note that beat phases can not be reversed except by clearing the machine settings, or by reverting the game to an older binary.

Each new beat phase unlocks new songs and/or EXPERT courses for play, along with some other options.

EMPRESS uses the same EXTRA STAGE requirements as DJ TROOPERS: HARD clear three songs with a AA rating or higher, with the total difficulty of them determining what difficulties you can play. AAA the EXTRA STAGE to unlock the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE.

The EXTRA STAGE system ended on January 7th, 2009 (beat#2), with both songs unlocked for all players.

Sweets ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE

In addition to the normal EXTRA STAGE system, EMPRESS also has a second set of songs that can be played as the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE. To play these songs, you must hard clear and AAA a level 11 or higher (10 or higher for DP) ANOTHER chart as the EXTRA STAGE, in addition to meeting certain other requirements.

The Sweets ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE system ended on March 25th, 2009 (beat Free), with all songs unlocked for all players.
