Kiyotaka Sugimoto
Artist Information
- Name: Kiyotaka Sugimoto (杉本清隆)
- Birth date: March 21st, 1974.
Profile
Around since the very first pop'n music, Kiyotaka Sugimoto was very active in pop'n music and beatmania from 1998 to 2002, and served as a sound director in both series. He also occasionally appeared in beatmania IIDX, where he started out as a sound data analyzer. Around 2001 / 2002, though, he left Konami, though he came back a year or so later as a commission artist. After his return, he near exclusively contributed to pop'n music, up to pop'n music 20 fantasia. He hasn't been seen in BEMANI since.
Trivia
- Friends with Reo Nagumo. They have collaborated on three songs together in pop'n music.
- Kiyotaka Sugimoto has worked on - whether as a composer or a lyricist - the songs in 18 of the 22 current arcade versions of pop'n music, more than any other composer in the series.
- Kiyotaka is the only arcade pop'n music sound director to have never done an anime song cover for pop'n music. However, several of his songs sound like anime themes, especially SENTAI and NINJA HERO.
- The pop'n music character Sugi-kun is based off him.
- Kiyotaka recently composed/sung a song for NAOKI's music game CROSSxBEATS for CAPCOM - Landing on the moon.
- Kiyotaka provided percussion for the 2002 album Chobits Character Song Collection, alongside famed Shibuya-kei duo ROUND TABLE.
