- Release Date: 1999
General Information / Changes
- Difficulties have been renamed: ANOTHER is renamed to TRICK, and MANIAC is renamed to SSR (Step Step Revolution).
- SSR cannot be selected while in 3rdMIX mode. It can only be used in a separate SSR game mode, which only allows playing of SSR charts, or in 2ndMIX mode, where all difficulties are available.
- First DanceDanceRevolution game to feature the Vivid noteskin, in which notes are colored according to their beat. It is enabled by default, except in SSR mode, where it requires a code to be activated.
- First and only DanceDanceRevolution arcade game to feature karaoke lyrics on-screen.
- First mainline DanceDanceRevolution game to introduce charts with a difficulty level of 9 (on the classic 1-10 scale).
- First DanceDanceRevolution game to have Double Maniac charts.
- DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX has four different versions. All of them can be easily differentiated by the default song.
- The Japanese version. The default song is XANADU.
- DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX Ver.KOREA, which removes some licenses from the Japanese version but adds a few Korean songs. The default song is BA KKWO.
- DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX Ver.KOREA 2, which adds some more Korean songs.
- A version of DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX intended for the rest of the Asian market, lacking both the songs that were cut from the Korean versions as well as any Korean songs. The default song is UPSIDE DOWN.
