General Information

File:BeatmaniaUSABundleBox.gif

  • Release Date: March 29th, 2006.
  • Featuring over 50 songs.
  • Songs are drawn from 5-key and 7-key games, as well as new US exclusives.
  • Retail price: As of mid november, 2006, the bundle has decreased to $29.99 at all Gamestop/EB Games locations. This is coming from the previous package which was sold at Gamestop for $59.99 and EB Games for $44.99. This decrease in price should not be seen as a bad thing, though, as Konami's Music Series Website still lists the title on the front page.
  • ESRB Rating: E-10+, for "mild lyrics" and "suggestive themes".

Expert Mode Courses

Courses have three difficulties: Light/Standard/Heavy. Unlike the rest of the game, this keeps track of EX scores. What's Different About USA

  • Game uses the 9th style CS Engine, but has been completely reskinned.
  • Game modes include Game Mode (AKA "Arcade Mode" in the Japanese versions), Free Mode, Expert Mode, Practice Mode (not similar to Beginner Mode, but looks more like Lesson Mode in CS DDR games), and Training Mode.
  • Another difficulties are available but must be unlocked by playing every song on both 5-key and 7-key once.
  • There are no anothers for 5-key songs, nor for any of the US exclusives.
  • Regarding song charts, nothing has been "toned down", but "very minor changes have been made to some of the 'annoying' measures within songs in hyper mode. Another charts haven't been touched."
  • "Just Great" is now called "Perfect."
  • Difficulties are listed as "Beginner", "Normal", and "Hyper". Another exists, but needs to be unlocked.
  • Difficulties are now on a 1-10 scale, using stars.
  • Hard has been renamed to "Challenge", or "CHA" for short.
  • 5-key mode is known as "beatmania" mode, 7-key mode is known as "beatmania IIDX" mode. Konami no longer appears to be removing references to IIDX from videos, etc.
  • In 5-key mode, Free Scratch Zones have returned. Free Scratch Zones are areas in songs where you can scratch as much or as little as you want. Scratching here will only increase your money score - it has no effect on your EX score or grade.
  • There is a replay mode to save replays of songs you have played.
  • The records screen has note counts, money score, playcount, and max combo organized in a DDR-style grid.
  • Songs must be played in Game Mode before they appear in Free Mode.
  • The beatmania songs are rated on a scale of 200,000 points, just like the IIDX songs.
  • The rankings have been changed. You now only need 7\9 possible ex points for a AAA rank. 6/9 for AA, 5/9 for A, and so on.
