DanceDanceRevolution Disney Channel EDITION

Release Information

  • Release Date: January 8th, 2008

General Information / Changes

  • The only PlayStation 2 DanceDanceRevolution game made outside of Asia, by German video game developer Keen Games.
  • Interface is based on DanceDanceRevolution EXTREME2.
  • All Disney Channel songs are covers arranged by Stephen Geering.
    • Instead of artists, the game simply lists what movie/TV series the song is from.
  • Introduces Magic Mode, whose gameplay is similar to BATTLE mode in DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA. A 10 second timer is displayed at the bottom of the screen, and when it reaches 0, gimmicks are sent to the opponent's side should the player have filled their magic gauge to a certain point by stepping correctly. A total of three songs are played, with those being manually chosen in the 2 Player version, and as part of preset courses in the 1 Player version; the player with the most wins is declared the winner.
  • The traditional DanceDanceRevolution dancers are replaced with characters from various Disney Channel shows.
    • They also have additional outfits which can be unlocked through the 1 Player version of Magic Mode.
  • Almost all of the game menus/modes recycle music from older DDR songs.
  • All BEGINNER charts are rated Level 1, regardless of BPM.
  • All returning DanceDanceRevolution songs have new banners, except for Rock-a-billy Willy.
  • DoLL and Sakura are the only songs in the game with CHALLENGE charts.
  • Total songs: 40

Advanced Mode

This mode has four types of gameplay:

  • COURSE mode lets you play a series of nonstop courses. There are two types of dance meters: Normal and Challenge. If Challenge is selected, you can only miss four arrows until it's game over.
  • ENDLESS mode lets you play an endless nonstop course. The gameplay continues until either you fail a song or until you reach the maximum possible score.
  • SURVIVAL mode lets you play a series of songs selected at random. The gameplay continues until you miss four arrows, similar to the Challenge dance meter in COURSE mode.
  • COMBO CHALLENGE mode lets you play a series of songs selected at random. Once you miss just one arrow and break your full combo, it's game over.

In addition to the courses listed below, there are ten courses labeled as "ORDER", whose song slots can be edited by the player; by default, they are all set to RANDOM.

Trivia

  • While not selectable anywhere else, Double BEGINNER charts can be played via Advanced Mode's Courses due to its menus not being accomodated for Double Play; the difficulties that are displayed in both PROGRAM and ORDER courses are always the ones for Single Play. Curiously, Double BEGINNER charts do exist for every song, though they're, aside from We're All In This Together, either trimmed down versions of their respective Double BASIC charts, or recycled from previous installments.
