General Information / Changes
- First style with BATTLE mode.
- First style with HI-SPEED, though only one setting is available.
- Maximum difficulty level raised from 5 to 7.
- Interface changed drastically from previous two games. Instead of records displaying one song name at a time in the center a la beatmania, a song wheel is on the right side of the screen, with the records on the left. The far right songlisting style is still used in the series to this day.
- Not counting beatmania IIDX substream (which is more of an expansion game), beatmania IIDX 2nd style is the only arcade beatmania IIDX game not to have its own standalone soundtrack. Instead, the three new substream songs and most of the 2nd style songs appeared on the beatmania maniac-tracks album. This album contained 2nd style songs, along with the new CS songs from beatmania APPEND YebisuMIX and the two new KONAMI originals in Dancing Stage featuring TRUE KiSS DESTiNATiON.
- However, four songs from 2nd style were not included on the OST: Bad boy, Junglist King, Panorama, and Shine On. These were all later included on the beatmania IIDX 3rd style Original Soundtracks album 7 months later.
- First BEMANI appearances of TaQ and good-cool.
- Final beatmania IIDX game that uses generic videos from the original beatmania IIDX. The next game replaced these videos with different generic videos.
- Almost all songs from the original beatmania IIDX title with unique videos had their videos replaced with generic ones.
- Final beatmania IIDX game that can link with DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX, due to some songs being removed in the next game.
- First beatmania IIDX game released in Korea, and the only one to be released under the "beatstage" name.
- The Korean release is notable for being the only game to use the "standard" beatmania II cabinets, whose release was cancelled in Japan for unknown reasons.
- HARD gauge is enabled in all modes, much like beatstage 5thMIX.
- Six licenses and three KONAMI originals are missing from the Korean release, them being been so long, ちょっときいてな (ZANSHIN-NA MIX), Mirrorball Satellite 2012, morning prayer, Shake, The Rhyme Brokers, NaHaNaHa vs.Gattchoon Battle, Panorama and Second Style (Hip Hop Paradise).
- Additionally, dong-tepo no.1 and 踊る!福神漬 (CALCUTTA) were renamed "rocket factory" and "CALCUTTA" respectively. Oddly, the overlays for rocket factory still retain its original name.
- Slogan: "The escaping of the music beat." (譜面の向こうへ駆け抜けろ。, BEAT no mukou e kakenukeru)
- Total songs: 71
