Release Information

• Release Date: March 28th, 2006 (North America)
• ESRB Rating: E10+, for "mild lyrics" and "suggestive themes".

General Information

• Contains songs from both the beatmania and the beatmania IIDX game series, along with eight new licenses.
• First beatmania IIDX game released outside Japan.
• Final CS entry in the beatmania series, four years after the release of beatmania 6thMIX + CORE REMIX.
• Interface is based on beatmania IIDX 9th style CS, but reskinned and recolored.
• Game modes include GAME (aka "ARCADE" in the Japanese versions), FREE, EXPERT, a new PRACTICE mode (a lesson mode), and TRAINING.
• First CS beatmania IIDX game in any region to individually rate ANOTHER charts.
  • It's also the only game to rate songs on a 1 to 10 scale.
• Tutorial narrated by Scott Dolph.
• Total songs: 58 (30 exclusive to beatmania IIDX, 17 exclusive to beatmania, and 11 in both)

Changes/Differences from other beatmania IIDX CS games

• Main game is split into two types: beatmania (5-keys) and beatmania IIDX (7-keys).
• ANOTHER difficulty must be unlocked by playing all songs in beatmania mode and beatmania IIDX mode, aside from jam jam reggae and 5.1.1..
  • Additional IIDX Expert courses are unlocked in the same manner.
• Songs in beatmania mode have only one difficulty chart.
  • Additionally, no US exclusives in the beatmania IIDX mode have ANOTHER charts.
• A few HYPER charts were "toned down", according to the staff of the game in an interview. No other charts were changed.
• JUST GREAT timing is now called PERFECT.
• LIGHT7/7KEY have been renamed to NORMAL/HYPER. BEGINNER and ANOTHER remain unchanged.
• HARD modifier has been renamed to CHALLENGE, or "CHA" for short.
• In beatmania mode, FREE Scratch ZONEs have returned. FREE Scratch ZONEs are areas in songs where you can scratch as much or as little as you want. Scratching here will only increase your money score - it has no effect on your EX score or grade.
• Only CS beatmania IIDX game with a REPLAY option; replays can be saved after a song is completed in FREE.
• Autoplay option is not available in FREE on either the beatmania or beatmania IIDX sides.
• RECORDS features, in addition to grade and individual note performance, the money score, playcount, and max combo organized of a song in a Dance Dance Revolution-style grid.
• Songs must be played in GAME before they appear in FREE, similar to 3rd through 6th style CS.
  • Only jam jam reggae is playable by default in beatmania's FREE mode, while only 5.1.1. is available in beatmania IIDX's.
• Grade requirements have been reduced by 1/9 a grade each all around (i.e. 7/9 possible EX points for a AAA rank, as opposed to 8/9 of every other game).
• All beatmania songs received new videos.
• Near all of the overlays have been removed from beatmania IIDX videos, with the sole exception being PARANOIA MAX～DIRTY MIX～.
  • Songs with unique videos remain untouched for the most part, though.

beatmania courses have only one difficulty, while beatmania IIDX courses have three difficulties: Light/Standard/Heavy. Unlike the rest of the game, this keeps track of EX scores. Courses beginning with IIDX are the IIDX mode Internet Ranking courses, and courses beginning with beatmania are the 5key mode Internet Ranking courses. Internet ranking is no longer available.
