  • Release Date: June 21st, 2000

General Information / Changes

  • FOLLOW THE SUN (90 IN THE SHADE MIX), IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE (Extended Remix), and XANADU are missing from the songlist. All three songs were later included in DanceDanceRevolution 4thMIX CS, though.
    • In an interview with DDRSpot.com, director Hirotaka Ishikawa stated the licensing for these songs took over a year, so they appeared in the next game instead.
  • First CS DanceDanceRevolution release with DOUBLE MANIAC charts.
  • First CS DanceDanceRevolution release with DIET MODE, which keeps track of how many calories you burn as you play songs.
  • First CS DanceDanceRevolution release with ENDLESS MODE, which allows you to play an infinite amount of songs until your dance gauge is empty.
  • Only mainline Japanese CS DanceDanceRevolution release with on-screen lyrics.
  • None of the Korean songs from the Asian releases of DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX appear in the game.
  • With 57 songs, DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX CS has the highest amount of songs of any PlayStation DanceDanceRevolution game in any region.
  • You can play all the songs from CS DDR 1st JP and CS DDR 2ndReMIX PS on the 3rdMIX interface using the DISC CHANGE feature.

Other Unlocks

  • STEP STEP REVOLUTION: to access SSR (which allows you to play a song's MANIAC charts) clear one song. Then at the title screen, press left, left, right, right, right, left, and right at the title screen. If you see the words SSR in giant letters, you did it correctly.
  • ReMIX MODE: to unlock ReMIX MODE (which allows you to play the game's unlocks), unlock SSR, clear 5 songs, and then press left, left, right, and right at the title screen.
  • To obtain SINGLE, UNISON, and DOUBLE, on the SELECT MODE screen hold left + right and press circle.
  • VIVID arrows: press left, right, left, left, right, right, left, and then right at the MUSIC SELECT screen.
  • ENDLESS MODE: clear 10 songs, and open up the BG collection option.
  • BONUS TRACK: clear 15 songs.
  • HOME1 ending: clear 20 songs, or watch the entire ARCADE ending.
  • DIET MODE: collect all 12 backgrounds with BG collection option on.
  • PAINT MODE: clear 30 songs. (If you have data from DanceDanceRevolution 2ndReMIX and had already unlocked it in that game, it will be automatically unlocked.)
  • OTHER SIDE course: clear 50 songs, or disc change with DanceDanceRevolution 2ndReMIX.
  • PARANOiAs course: clear 80 songs, or disc change with DanceDanceRevolution JP CS.
  • TRINITY course: clear 120 songs.
  • HOME2 ending: clear 140 songs.
