General Information / Changes

• Only GuitarFreaks & DrumMania game since his debut that Hideyuki Ono did not work on during his tenure at KONAMI.
• Final appearance of Handsome JET in the series, who died the following year.
• HALF-DARK, 0.5x, and 20.0x modifiers are introduced.
• HAZARD modifier was removed.
• First game in the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series to use a PC-based hardware (BEMANI PC), the same one used in pop'n music 15 ADVENTURE.
• First game to have folder sorting according to DIFFICULTY, RATINGS, ALPHABETS, KANJI, VERSIONS, LONG, SECRET and RANDOM until GuitarFreaks & DrumMania V8.
• System BGM is composed by Mutsuhiko Izumi and Jin Senbonmatsu.
• A North American location test of GuitarFreaks V4 & DrumMania V4 Яock×Rock took place on September 30th, 2007 at Brunswick Zone in Naperville, Illinois. [1] It never ended up being officially released.
• eAMUSEMENT support for GuitarFreaks V4 & DrumMania V4 Яock×Rock ended on July 31st, 2008.

EXTRA ENCORE STAGE Requirements

• Extra Stage: Obtain a net total of 2 points over a playthrough (1 for a each one or two song set), where for a given song:
  • SS = 2 points, S = 1 point, A = 0 point, B = -1 points, C = -2 points, D = -3 points, E = -4 points.

When accessed, an Extra Stage-specific song may be played in addition to any song on the regular song list.

• Encore Stage: Obtain 95% Perfects in GuitarFreaks or 93% Perfects in DrumMania on an Extra Stage-specific song (marked in red on the song list) without using any AUTO modifiers. When accessed, the Encore Stage (and only the Encore Stage) will be made playable up to the highest difficulty level played on Extra Stage. At Extra Level 14, the required percentages drop to 92% and 90%.
• Premium Encore Stage: Obtain 98% Perfects in GuitarFreaks or 96% Perfects in DrumMania on an Extra Stage-specific song (marked in red on the song list) without using any AUTO modifiers. When accessed, the Premium Encore Stage (and only the Premium Encore Stage) will be made playable up to the highest difficulty level played on Extra Stage. At Extra Level 14, the required percentages drop to 95% and 93%.

When earning EXTRA STAGE, in addition to the available EXTRA STAGE on V4, EXTRA STAGEs from previous games will be highlighted in purple. These available EXTRA STAGEs depend on the game's currently Extra Level. Earning 95% PERFECTS on one of these EXTRA STAGEs with no AUTO modifiers will allow the player to play a SPECIAL STAGE, the ENCORE STAGE for the respective game based on the selected EXTRA STAGE. As with the standard ENCORE STAGE, this stage may be played on any difficulty level up to the highest difficulty level completed on EXTRA STAGE.
