beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA

Release Information

File:SPADA.jpg

  • Location test dates: June 14, 2013 - June 16, 2013
  • Release Date: November 13, 2013
  • Slogan: N/A
  • Soundtrack release dates:
    • beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK (second CD includes content of the unreleased beatmania IIDX 20 tricoro ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK Vol.2)
      • Japanese release: 12/25/2013

General Information

  • SPADA is italian for "sword". The overall user interface is medieval-based and involves a lot of swords.
  • Despite all other BEMANI games aside from SOUND VOLTEX II -infinite infection- having the numbering scheme removed as of 2012, beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA thus marks the only BEMANI game to continue doing so.
  • SPADA is also the first time a beatmania IIDX title is written entirely in capital letters since beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS.
  • SPADA is the first game since Resort Anthem where its first location test is not held on the month of April consecutively. It is also the first game to have its location test for more than a year after the last one (tricoro on April 2012), instead of the usual 10-12 month interval between games after 8th style.
  • SPADA is the first beatmania IIDX game since Resort Anthem that has not been released in September.
  • SPADA is the first beatmania IIDX game to have its OST release date announced before the game itself is out.
    • The OST and the game have the shortest gap between releases of any beatmania IIDX game.
  • Changes to the game menu:
    • Default announcer is male.
      • The announcer reacts negatively should the wrong password be inputted upon insertion of the e-AMUSEMENT Pass.
    • New category introduced, named "MY FAVORITE". You can add songs to this category by pressing the VEFX button during the result screen of the song you have played.
      • Songs in this category will have a special image tag next to the title in the result screen.
      • The feature saves the specific chart of a song. You can still select difficulties of the favorited song in the category folder.
      • You cannot register more than 20 different songs.
    • The 1 button on the numeric keypad now changes difficulties, other than the VEFX one.
    • The 2 button on the numeric keypad opens the song sorting window, other than the black key.
      • With the 2 button it's possible to sort songs when a category folder is open.
      • Sort types VERSION, BPM, DIFFICULTY TYPE and MY BEST are gone.
    • By pressing the 3 button on the numeric keypad, you can freely change between Single and Double play on the music select screen. This is only possible with one player.
      • SINGLE / DOUBLE selection window still appears before selecting game modes. This is the only way to activate the RIVAL setting of the respective play mode, as switching SINGLE and DOUBLE in the song menu screen will not switch SP/DP Rival settings.
      • Cannot be done in STEP UP and Dan nintei modes.
      • SINGLE and DOUBLE settings are separate now.
      • SINGLE / DOUBLE notification is displayed on the bottom right of the menu screen.
      • Consequently, price for DP credits is gone.
    • Logos of IIDX games appear next to the genres of their respective songs.
    • Titles of the new songs are written with a violet font.
  • Result screen has been overhauled:
    • Mode type (Single/Double), difficulty name and difficulty rating are displayed below the Rank.
    • COMBO BREAKS are now counted.
    • Amount of FAST/SLOW notifiers gathered in a song is now always displayed, instead of being a hidden viewable feature.
    • If you fail to HARD CLEAR a song, the chart measure and note where you have lost will be shown.
    • Total Notes information are now shown again in the result screen.
    • Normal score is not shown anymore.
    • The RANK shown is written with a new font and its color depends on which rank you get:
      • AAA: Gold
      • AA: Silver
      • A and B: Green
      • C to F: Blue
    • The Score Gauge, which is always seen in the game menu, now too appears in the ranking section for each player.
    • The bar of the Score Gauge appears with different colors, depending on which RANK is obtained and by FULL COMBOs.
    • Stage phase shown on the top of the screen has now a much bigger font.
  • Changes to the gameplay UI:
    • The difficulty level of the song is now shown next to the difficulty name.
    • The Groove gauge appears closer to the buttons/scratch lane.
    • Max Combo, Score and BPM information are now correctly arranged when the score graph is turned off.
    • Max Combo and Score information are arranged on the top layer when the score graph is turned on.
    • Stage information appears in the middle of the top layer.
    • In the DOUBLE PLAYER gameplay UI, Hi-SPEED and Difficulty information have switched place with the Max Combo and Score information.
    • Songs with overlays from Lincle and older now have their movie windows cropped to fit the proper dimensions instead of having black bars at the sides.
  • Platinum medals have been added
  • Difficulty selection in STEP UP mode is strictly tied to your DAN rank now.
  • All the hidden songs from tricoro are not already unlocked in SPADA. If you didn't unlock them in tricoro, you have to unlock them in SPADA.
    • They're progressively unlocked with Tran Medals, up to 152 of them.
    • In addition, the Lincle Link, Café de Tran, Private BEMANI Academy, and Q-pro, Mimi, Nyami & Pastel-kun no Minna de Uchuu Sensou!! songs are also still locked if you didn't unlock them in tricoro.
  • First beatmania IIDX game since the return of Tatsh in Resort Anthem where he has no song on the default songlist.
    • Also the first beatmania IIDX game since Qrispy Joybox's debut that he doesn't appear on the default songlist.

今日のイチオシ (Today's Featured Songs)

Every day, on all SPADA machines, three songs are marked as "featured". You can see which ones are marked in the Data Entry window or in the songwheel menu. Playing all three of them in a session will grant you 300 bonus dellars.

The featured songs are chosen under a certain criteria which changes weekly, from Wednesday to the Tuesday of the successive week.

For the list of featured songs, please check the beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA Today's Featured Songs List page.

Extra Stage

In Standard Mode, during your final stage, the following conditions will allow you to access the Extra Stage:

  • obtaining a perfect combo
  • obtaining a full combo on a 5 or greater on Single Play or a 4 or greater on Double Play
  • finishing with 100% gauge on a 7 or greater on Single Play or a 6 or greater on Double Play
  • clearing an 8 or greater on Single Play or a 7 or greater on Double Play

What happens during your first two stages has no influence on whether or not a normal extra stage is attainable, so you could, for example, fail the first two stages with a DJ VIP Pass and still obtain an Extra Stage as long as you met the conditions on the final stage.

ASSIST modifiers and Easy Clear gauge can be used.
