• Release date: November 2nd, 2000

General Information / Changes

• First console beatmania IIDX game.
• Songlist consists of most of the KONAMI originals from the first four arcade beatmania IIDX games (beatmania IIDX through 3rd style), and some of the licenses in the arcade version of 3rd style. However, several non-licensed songs are missing, including;
  • 1st style: 20,November, Be in my paradise, Beginning of life, Deep Clear Eyes, Do you love me?, into the world, jam jam reggae, LOVE SO GROOVY, Queen's Jamaica (astria mix), and ska a go go.
  • substream: NaHaNaHa vs.Gattchoon Battle and RUGGED ASH.
• All songs from beatmania IIDX and substream whose videos contained footage from beatmania have been removed. They are all replaced with generic videos from 2nd or 3rd style. The videos affected include: 22DUNK, deep in you, e-motion, GENOM SCREAMS, LUV TO ME (disco mix), OVERDOSER, patsenner, and Salamander Beat Crush mix.
• Only CS beatmania IIDX game that doesn't save individual Single/Double records for songs.
• Only CS beatmania IIDX game where not every song has LIGHT charts.
  • Songs played in LIGHT7/14 mode that do not have LIGHT charts will play their 7/14KEYS chart instead.
• One of two CS beatmania IIDX games with no CS original songs, the other being 7th style CS.
• Songs must be played in ARCADE before they are playable in FREE. By default, only 5.1.1. is initially playable. You do not need to clear songs to unlock them.
  • The "playing songs in ARCADE to unlock in FREE" requirement would continue through 6th style CS.

These 13 songs are unlocked one at a time by clearing a round of ARCADE mode. All these songs also display the old beatmania font on their splash screens. All revivals are from 1st style with the exceptions of deep in you and GENOM SCREAMS, which are from substream.

Unlock Information

• To unlock Expert courses 6-8, pass at least three songs to get the IR screen on every default course (Courses 1-5).
• To unlock Expert backside courses (Courses 9-16; accessed by holding SELECT), pass at least three songs to get the IR screen on its corresponding frontside course (Courses 1-8).
  • (Frontside Course→Backside Course): 1→9; 2→10; 3→11; 4→12; 5→13; 6→14; 7→15; 8→16
• To unlock Original Course Setting, unlock all hidden Expert Courses.
  • Only songs currently available in FREE are eligible for selection.
• To unlock everything immediately:
  • Achieve at least a 573 combo on any song in either ARCADE or FREE (AUTOPLAY disabled), and then clear the song.
    • Autoscratch is allowed, as it counts as a GOOD judgement, adding towards the combo count.
    • In EXPERT, having at least a 573 combo over multiple songs without having at least a 573 combo on a single song will not count. *** Once any single song is cleared with at least a 573 combo, everything will be unlocked, regardless if the remainder of the course was cleared or failed.
  • Or accumulate 573 minutes of play time in ARCADE/FREE (AUTOPLAY disabled). Only time playing songs counts towards this.

Bugs

• The game does not recognize the difference between SP and DP scores when saving; this means doubles data will often overwrite singles data. Doubles players are recommended to use two memory cards.
• Various songs have incorrect timing; some songs have timing windows that are too tight, some songs have sections where the timing is off by a beat or so, and some songs are just messed up beyond description. Timing issues also vary by difficulty level. The songs with perhaps the most notoriously bad timing are GAMBOL, e-motion, OVERDOSER, and SOFT LANDING ON THE BODY.
• Song sorting in Free Mode (sorting by name) and in the Records is off in some places.
• When you achieve a new high EX Score, the game will record that new EX Score and all other new attributes that go with that most recent play session, even if the ancillary scores were better in your previous record. I.E., it will overwrite any previous combo counts, judgment counts, and your clear status if they differ between your previous record and your new record. This will change Perfect Combos to simply Cleared status if you did not achieve a Perfect Combo with your new higher EX Score, even if you had previously achieved a Perfect Combo on that song. It will also change Cleared status to "Played" (shown simply as a blank) if you achieve a higher EX Score but fail to clear the song, even if you had previously cleared it.
