General Information / Changes

• Slogan: 光る近未来都市。 鳴らせ新時代。 (LIGHTNING EPOLIS. PLAY THE NEW ERA.)
• Theme: Futuristic city/Nightlife/Radio Broadcasting/Journalism
  • The E and I colored yellow is a reference to the 31st installment of the beatmania IIDX series.
  • This version's STEP UP mode is themed around fashion retail, where your Q-Pro works as a retail worker in the trendy mega-department store NIDERA 926.
    • The setting is a parody of the world-famous Tokyo fashion store Shibuya 109.
• In-game currency is called EPO.
• Customized folder added, containing only filtered songs based on the player's preferences.
• OPTION screen interface has been redesigned; the guide interface is relocated to the bottom of the screen.
  • H-RANDOM and EXPAND JUDGE options have been removed.
• "Beginner Recommended" folder added, which contains only a limited number of songs. Like other BEMANI series, this is the default option for first-time players and those who do not have an e-amusement pass.
  • The ALL BEGINNER folder has been removed.
• Songs beginning with a number have been segregated from OTHERS in alphabetical sorting, now placing under a new 0-9 folder.
• Premium Area added the following features:
  • Music retry function, allowing players to retry the same song with the exact same options and RANDOM lane configuration if a STYLE modifier is used. It can only be used once per play; requires PASELI.
    • It cannot be combined with RANDOM lane gacha, and can only be used in STANDARD, FREE or PREMIUM FREE mode.
  • Shortcuts for Turntable resistance, Screenshot, Play Recorder and Play Analyzer have been added.
  • Customization for lane covers has been added, along with toggles for lane height for SUDDEN+ and LIFT.
  • Play customization items can now be changed in game; prior to this, it had to be done on the e-amusement site.
    • Key beam lengths can now be adjusted for all key beam customize options.
  • QWERTY keyboard layout has been added.
  • Options for participating in casual tournaments or competitions are added, along with a bar graph for current standings among participants, as well as rivals.
  • DJ DATA tab added, allowing players to view details of MY NOTES RADAR.
• Tran Medals have been removed.
  • As such, EPO can now be awarded for reaching certain badge levels, including STEP UP mode.
• Players now have the option to select DJ VIP PASS GOLD or PLATINUM when DJ VIP PASS BLACK is available to be selected.
• When playing PREMIUM Start, the minimum level restriction (for no Dan clears) is set to 10-11-12 (equivalent to 7th Dan clears).
• If your account is linked to beatmania IIDX ULTIMATE MOBILE, you can edit Song selection memo and be notified of any in-game events and casual tournaments via the app.
• First beatmania IIDX game since SIRIUS with several default system BGMs across game modes (outside STEP UP mode or event-based ones).
• EPOLIS' location test marks the first one for a beatmania IIDX arcade game since beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS to not have a newly composed song by Takayuki Ishikawa on it.
• First beatmania IIDX game since his debut where Camellia doesn't appear in the default songlist.
• System voices are provided by Shem (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) and Celica (voiced by Mai Nakahara).
  • Similar to RESIDENT, these system voices are only present in the Japanese version of the game.
• All remaining unlocks from BISTROVER, all non-BEMANI event unlocks from CastHour, and the six launch hidden LEGGENDARIA charts from RESIDENT are all unlocked by default.
  • Souhait bleu, 2 Beasts Unchained and 逆月 are playable outside LIGHTNING MODEL cabinets, though they are required to be unlocked beforehand (Souhait bleu is available by default).
• Fumiaki Ito, the organizer of Diverse System, was involved as a coordinator to introduce artists for the game [1].
• First odd-numbered beatmania IIDX game to feature a limited-time unlocking event, Q-Pro parts lottery (クプロパーツくじ), which began on November 1st, 2023.

Other Unlock Events

WORLD TOURISM

The WORLD TOURISM unlock system, first introduced in beatmania IIDX 28 BISTROVER, will return on November 2nd, 2023.

Folders are added to the selection in one player Standard Mode (playable on any stage) and Premium Free. Playing a song from any folder will bring up a board with ten spaces between START and GOAL. Five spaces are awarded for playing a song (clear or fail does not matter), and an extra space is awarded for fulfilling each of the following conditions:

• DJ LEVEL AA or HARD CLEAR (or better)
• PREMIUM START (Japan only)
• LIGHTNING MODEL play

TOURISM BOOSTER, exclusive to Japanese LIGHTNING MODEL cabinets, also returns; it doubles the progress for each session if enabled.

Once the Q-Pro reaches the GOAL, a bonus is awarded, and the remaining spaces will carry over to the next board in the folder. If on the last board, the remaining spaces are lost. A number of how many spaces remain before the end goal are also shown.

The following rewards are awarded for each goal, in order:

1. 3000 EPO
2. 20 V-Discs
3. 6000 EPO
4. 40 V-Discs
5. Unlockable song

After playing a song from a WORLD TOURISM folder, the folders will disappear for the rest of the credit. Once the song has been unlocked from a folder, it will disappear from the selection entirely.

WEEKLY RANKING

The WEEKLY RANKING feature was added to beatmania IIDX 31 EPOLIS on November 1st, 2023. The WEEKLY RANKING song changes every Wednesday at 12:00 noon.

You earn a star (the day after the period for a song ends) if your score in the leaderboards for the featured song's chart is high enough. Note that stars depend on each song's chart on both Single and Double Play, not on the whole song itself, which means you can earn up to six stars per song.

In the song list menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the featured song's chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards:

• White star: if the arrow is located in the white section (within 75% in the leaderboards).
• Bronze star: if the arrow is located in the cyan section (within 50% in the leaderboards).
• Silver star: if the arrow is located in the gray section (within 25% in the leaderboards).
• Gold star: if the arrow is located in the yellow section (within 10% in the leaderboards).
• Platinum star: if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (within top 10 in the leaderboards).

New to this feature is Predicted Rating, which gives an estimate on any potential changes of ranking based on the current submitted score until the end of each period.
