General Information / Changes
- The option to switch between Basic and Recital modes in between songs has been added.
- Halls and themes of Recital mode have been removed, and the number of Judge Cats was changed to four.
- A song search option is now available, allowing players to narrow down songs by ノスタルジア game, category, other BEMANI series, difficulty or past ranks (if any).
- A new TREND folder has been added, covering songs with the highest play count among all machines.
- In-game tutorial is now playable, following the trend of other BEMANI series.
- EXAM mode is available again from February 20th, 2020.
- From June 11th, 2020, old hidden songs from the original ノスタルジア through Op.2 have been made available to unlock again at different dates. For more information, please see this page.
- On April 1st, 2020, when using an e-amusement pass, songs in the Classic/Jazz, NOSTALGIA Original, or BEMANI categories had overlays of cats during gameplay, as an April Fool's joke.
- The code to revert to normal gameplay was to tap on parts of the touch screen, in order: top, top, bottom, bottom, left, right, left, right. Then press the leftmost key, followed by the rightmost key. This is a variation of the KONAMI code.

Story
Story (物語) is the main unlocking system of ノスタルジア Op.3. It started on February 6th, 2020 and it requires an e-amusement pass.
At the start of each credit, players can select one of the available Episodes. When selecting an Episode for the first time, an amount of nos for each episode is required. The current Episode can be switched up to three times per play by using the blue ticket on the song selection screen.
To progress in an Episode, collect Stardust by playing songs, and once the amount of Stardust required is obtained, a chart or song will be unlocked. The number of acquired Stardust is displayed below the score on the result screen, and you can check the breakdown and conditions of the acquired Stardust by touching it.
Each chart of a song has to be unlocked separately, and always in the following order: Normal→Hard→Expert→Real.

Otodoke! Torokko daisakusen (おとどけ！トロッコ大作戦)
The Otodoke! Torokko daisakusen (おとどけ！トロッコ大作戦) event started on December 18th, 2019 and ended on January 13th, 2020. By playing GITADORA and jubeat, a song from each series can be unlocked for play in ノスタルジア. Obtaining both songs will also unlock a brand-new song tied to the event.
A second part of the event, Otodoke! Torokko daisakusen 2 (おとどけ！トロッコ大作戦2), started on July 3rd, 2020 and ended on July 26th, 2020, featuring new crossovers and a brand-new song.

EXAM mode was revived on February 20th, 2020. By obtaining a certain level of Grd., the player can attempt courses assessing their ability, similar to both beatmania IIDX and DanceDanceRevolution's Dan modes or SOUND VOLTEX's SKILL ANALYZER courses. Event courses also appear from time to time.
