General Information / Changes
- Not counting ports, this is the eighth DanceDanceRevolution title simply named "DanceDanceRevolution". This game is referred to as "DDR 2013" by many players to prevent confusion.
- Widely believed to be the final arcade DanceDanceRevolution game, with new content appearing in the form of online updates pushed through the eAMUSEMENT network.
- New cabinets have a white finish and brighter tone lights.
- Interface is based very heavily on DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX's interface.
- The ENJOY LEVEL and EXTRA STAGE systems were also carried over.
- First DanceDanceRevolution game to not have any ENCORE EXTRA STAGE at launch since DDRMAX.
- First arcade DanceDanceRevolution game where GOODs do not break combo nor do they decrease life when using the RISKY option or on an EXTRA STAGE.
- HAPPY, 2ndMIX and COURSE modes have been removed.

The Private BEMANI Academy event consists on raising the Friendship between two artists to 100% in order to unlock a certain song. You need to check the Private BEMANI Academy eAMUSEMENT site after you've reached 100% to claim an unlock.

NOTE: The Private BEMANI Academy event ended on December 19th, 2013. The remaining songs can be unlocked by play count on DanceDanceRevolution (2013).
To unlock Elemental Creation, you must have unlocked all the previous 9 Private BEMANI Academy songs, then you need to raise the Friendship degree of dj TAKA and DJ YOSHITAKA to 100%.

To access the tournament for Engraved Mark, you had to link your eAMUSEMENT account to pop'n rhythmin, and then play Engraved Mark on it once. Since March 5th, 2014, this tournament is available for everyone to access.

The jubeat・GITADORA・DDRのTriple Journey (jubeat-GITADORA-DDR no Triple Journey) collaboration event with jubeat saucer and GITADORA began on August 1st, 2013.

UPDATE: Locked jubeat・GITADORA・DDRのTriple Journey songs on DanceDanceRevolution can be unlocked from October 1st, 2013. Each game session will unlock a song.
EXTRA STAGE / ENCORE EXTRA STAGE
To access the EXTRA STAGE, you need to get 9 stars. Every time the player clears a song, they will get a certain amount of stars:
- AAA = 3 stars
- AA = 2 stars
- A-D = 1 star
- Song failed = no stars
In addition, you also gain an extra star for a full combo, and another star once on your first play each day.
Three special EXTRA STAGE songs were added on March 25th, 2014, as part of the TAG's Birthday event. To access any of them, you must play songs from the "TAG's Birthday" Special Folder (『TAG生誕祭』特設フォルダ) inside the BEMANI folder, and meet the criteria for EXTRA STAGE. Each time you pass a TAG song, you get a flower mark on the song's jacket in the music select screen, to mark which song you've passed.
Unlike previous releases, the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE isn't present. Due to a bug, from October 2nd, 2013 to October 8th, 2013 the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE was available by clearing the current EXTRA STAGE with an AA rank and above, with no ENCORE EXTRA STAGE-specific song. This was fixed on the October 8th, 2013 update.
