General Information / Changes
- A MINUTE (Extended Mix), IT'S RAINING MEN (Almighty Mix), MORE THAN I NEEDED TO KNOW, and THERE YOU'LL BE are missing from the songlist.
- As a result, BABY LOVE ME is now the default song.
- Songs are now sorted in ABC order by genre on the songwheel, unlike the arcade version, which orders them by their LIGHT foot ratings.
- The window for background videos is now a little expanded, removing the black borders on both sides of the screen.
- First Japanese CS DanceDanceRevolution title in the main series in which the arcade beatmania IIDX crossovers don't have to be unlocked.
- Can unlock everything in DDRMAX CS through System Data Support.
- DDRMAX2 -DanceDanceRevolution 7thMIX- CS is the only Japanese home port of a mainline DanceDanceRevolution arcade game in which none of its new CS songs were ever ported to an arcade release during the time the series was producing Japanese CS releases.

PARANOIA survivor
PARANOIA survivor is unlocked by getting AA on any song of any difficulty during any stage.
PARANOIA survivor will only appear during your FINAL STAGE, except if EVENT MODE is turned on, then PARANOIA survivor will appear during any stage.
EXTRA STAGE
To access the EXTRA STAGE you must AA your last song on HEAVY.
You will play MAXX UNLIMITED with the HEAVY chart on 1.5x, Reverse, and Dark. Your dance gauge, as usual in the EXTRA STAGE, will not go up as you play.
ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE
To access the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, you must AA MAXX UNLIMITED on HEAVY for your EXTRA STAGE.
You will play 革命, and it will be played with the CHALLENGE chart on Sudden Death (one Good/Boo/Miss/N.G., and the song ends). You will be forced to play on x3, Reverse, and Dark.
Unlock Information
Point System Unlocking
DDRMAX2 CS' unlock system unlocks songs based on what level you reach. As you play songs, you'll unlock a certain amount of points depending on how well you do in a song. Here's a rundown of how many points you get from a song depending on the difficulty level you play and clear a song with:
- AAA: 10
- AA: 8
- A: 6
- B: 4
- C: 2
- Fail: 1
- EDIT charts give you no points.
After you obtain a certain amount of points, you'll unlock a song/course. What you unlock depends on what level you're at. Here's a rundown of all 30 levels, how many points you need to unlock the respective secret, and what you get:
- Level 1: 80 points, unlocks ONI COURSE 4: FROM II DX
- Level 2: 80 points, unlocks PARANOiA survivor
- Level 3: 80 points, unlocks ONI COURSE 5: LOVE SONG COLLECTION
- Level 4: 80 points, unlocks THE SHINING POLARIS
- Level 5: 80 points, unlocks ONI COURSE 6: DJ SOTA

Goal-oriented Unlocking
Aside from the point system, there is a second method to unlocking DDRMAX2's songs; meeting various requirements and goals as you play. The only exceptions are the CHALLENGE-only songs, which can only be unlocked through CHALLENGE MODE courses. Here are the following requirements for them:
Songs are listed in order as shown on the website. You CANNOT use Edit Mode to fulfill requirements for any of the songs.
- MAXX UNLIMITED: clear on EXTRA STAGE.
- 革命: clear on ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE.
- AM-3P (303 BASS MIX): clear CUTIE CHASER MORNING MIX with an A or higher on any difficulty level, or watch the credits all the way to the end.
- Look To The Sky (True Color Mix): clear SO IN LOVE with an A or higher on any difficulty level, or complete all default songs in the game on any difficulty level.
- Do It Right (Harmonized 2Step Mix): clear Kind Lady with an A or higher on any difficulty level, or complete all default songs in the game on any difficulty level.
- DROP THE BOMB -System S.F. MIX-: clear Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix) with an A or higher on any difficulty level, or complete all default songs in the game on any difficulty level.
- DYNAMITE RAVE -Down Bird SOTA Mix-: clear TSUGARU with an A or higher on any difficulty level, or complete all default songs in the game on any difficulty level.
- THE SHINING POLARIS: clear a STANDARD chart.
- Jam&Marmalade: complete a song in DIET MODE.
- PEACE-OUT: clear a Double chart.

Faster Unlocking
You can also unlock the CHALLENGE-only charts faster by doing the following:
- Create a Course with ORDER 1-2-3
- Put any number of songs in the course, all on ROULETTE
- Press Circle to customize the ROULETTE songs, put them all on ONI, and apply the LITTLE mod.
Now you will play the ONI songs with much simpler steps, removing all but the quarter steps. Repeat until all 22 of them are unlocked.
