DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2

Release Information

  • Release Dates:
    • August 22, 2007 (Japan)
    • January 17, 2008 (U.S.)

General Information / Changes

  • DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2, under the title Dancing Stage SuperNOVA2, was planned to be release in Europe. However, due to Sony's policy of exporting the original PlayStation 2 into European territories, the arcade game was cancelled.
  • Marvelous/Marvellous timing is now on all the time. Due to this, you only have to get a score of 999,000 now to obtain an AAA in a song.
  • Many BEMANI artists write original DanceDanceRevolution songs for the first time, including TOMOSUKE, D-crew, and wac.
  • Many of the timing issues that plagued the original SuperNOVA have been fixed up.
  • Unlike the last two arcade DanceDanceRevolution games, there's a small amount of BEMANI crossovers; only 10.
  • Unlike in SuperNOVA, the character selection screen returns, after you have chosen either Single or Double mode.
  • The Easy/Medium/Hard modes from SuperNOVA have been combined into one mode called Standard Mode.
  • Song and artist information is now listed in-game when playing.
  • Total songs: 355

GROOVE RADAR Special Songs

These are all old DDR songs with new CHALLENGE charts that maxes out one or (in the case of DEAD END ("GROOVE RADAR" Special)) all of the six GROOVE RADAR parameters (STREAM/CHAOS/etc.). These all only have CHALLENGE charts. Despite being old songs, they are all listed in the SuperNOVA2 folder.

To unlock them, you must fill one (or all) of the parameters in My GROOVE RADAR (Myグルーヴレーダー) by playing songs that have charts which focus on those GROOVE RADAR parameters (e.g. a chart with lots of jumps will help you to fill the AIR parameter). As of 4/10/2008, these songs have been unlocked for normal play.

Zukin Wars

Zukin Wars was a monthly event via e-AMUSEMENT. In it you're assigned to one of three teams - Red, Yellow, and Green. Before the Final Stage, you will receive a message with specific instructions. Complete the mission, and you'll defeat what the game calls "Dark Dancers". Defeat a certain amount will unlock a new song. Anyone on that team will also receive that song.

Extra Stage is very different from earlier DDR arcade games. Getting an A on the first or second stage unlocks Unreal for the Final Stage for the difficult played (an AA unlocks all difficult levels for Unreal).

Getting an AA or higher on Unreal, or the final song on Random, earns the player the Extra Stage - NGO. Getting an AA on NGO unlocks TRIP MACHINE PhoeniX as the Encore Extra Stage. Further Extra Stages were added via e-AMUSEMENT; details down below.
