General Information / Changes

  • First BEMANI game to feature a modernized version of an older game as a game mode. 2ndMIX mode is a high-definition remake of DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX with all the songs except STRICTLY BUSINESS and the STEP BATTLE songs featured.
    • However, this is not the first time 2ndMIX has been remade; a previous remake exists in DanceDanceRevolution 3rdMIX, though using the 3rdMIX interface.
  • Interface theme is taken from DanceDanceRevolution II for the Nintendo Wii console.
  • DRILL COURSE from X2 is removed.
  • Target Score system added. Player can choose a different rival / own score to track between songs.
  • BEMANI TITLE sort option added. This sorts songs according to which of the other 5 major BEMANI series they also appear in.
  • First DanceDanceRevolution game to use Star system to determine if player gets EXTRA STAGE.
  • First DanceDanceRevolution game to feature the RISKY option outside of the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE. Similar to the Sudden Death option while playing the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE and the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania series' HAZARD mode, breaking your combo will result in failing the song instantly.
  • An update introduced QUICK PLAY mode, in which the player may pay to play on a per-song basis using PASELI credits, rather than pay for a set of songs.
  • Last game in the X series of games. However, its interface and unlock systems would later be re-used in the subsequent game.

Daily Special

During the event these five songs were each available on different weekdays. In addition, Weekend Special event was later added, and the songs cycled hourly on weekends. The events ended on May 28, 2012 and all songs were unlocked for regular play.

KAC 2012 Songs

With the exceptions of REVOLUTIONARY ADDICT and Go For The Top, the following songs are remixes of DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX's Konami original songs, which appeared on the DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK presented by ダンスマニア album.

EXTRA STAGE / ENCORE EXTRA STAGE

The EXTRA STAGE system has been changed once again in X3. This time it uses a "star system" to access the EXTRA STAGE. When the player clears a song, they will get a certain amount of stars. Note that unlike previous games, EXTRA STAGE can now only be accessed via eAMUSEMENT.

  • AAA = 3 stars
  • AA = 2 stars
  • A-D = 1 star
  • Song/course failed = no stars

In addition, you also gain an extra star for a full combo.

Getting 9 stars will give you access to the EXTRA STAGE song Amalgamation. Getting an AA/AAA on that song gets you UNBELIEVABLE (Sparky remix) for the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE. More EXTRA/ENCORE EXTRA STAGE stages were added over time: the full list is below. All songs were unlocked for normal play by 11/5/2012.

Tsugidoka! (つぎドカ!)

These songs debuted on December 19th, 2012. They also appear in REFLEC BEAT colette, pop'n music Sunny Park, and (in the case of Cosmic Hurricane and snow prism, remixed in) GuitarFreaksXG3 & DrumManiaXG3.

The Tsugidoka! song which got the most plays on all games combined as of January 8th, 2013 was transplanted to jubeat saucer on January 9th. The winner song was 紅焔.

2ndMIX MODE

A completely redone DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX is featured as a separate mode in DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX, with high definition graphics, 2ndMIX dancing characters, banners and background animations. You also need to introduce commands in order to apply mods.

Every song featured in DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX (with the only exception of STRICTLY BUSINESS) is playable here. STEP BATTLE songs are also absent.
