General Information / Changes
- First DanceDanceRevolution game that is released in the form of an online update pushed through the eAMUSEMENT network.
- The interface was upgraded using the color scheme of DanceDanceRevolution (2013) as its base, and a new layout which resembles the GuitarFreaks & DrumMania XG series' interface. The song select screen and result screen were completely revamped by adding useable window panes for each user. Each information pane is accessible using its corresponding number on the numeric keypad:
- The 1 button opens the difficulty and personal best score tab.
- The 2 button opens the GROOVE RADAR tab which include numbers stats for the first time since DDRMAX -DanceDanceRevolution 6thMIX-.
- The 3 button opens the rivals and target score tab.
- The 4 and 5 buttons open additional information tabs. Usually, these tabs are not available and only appear during select events such as EXTRA ATTACK and YuniverHills project.
- A new unlocking system, EXTRA ATTACK, available only during EXTRA STAGE was added.
- EXTRA STAGE is now limited to Premium Play. In Japan, Premium Play is PASELI-only.
- Option GUIDELINES are introduced, which consists of the following: OFF, BORDER, and CENTER.
- Additional play options were added as exclusive to Premium Play:
- .25x interval speed modifiers were added, though only up to 2.25x. The limit was increased to 3.75x on a later update.
- LIFE4 lifebar modifier added, which gives the player 4 lives before the song is over.
- Playing with LIFE4 or RISKY gives you a Result Star whether you pass or not, which gives you easier access to the EXTRA STAGE.
- Easier access to the EXTRA STAGE can also be obtained when playing VERSUS with both players using Premium Play.
- DanceEvolution ARCADE, SOUND VOLTEX, and ミライダガッキ FutureTomTom folders were added when sorting by BEMANI series.
- On June 12th, 2015, the BeatStream folder was added.
- A new sorting option was introduced, Sorting by Genre (ジャンルから選ぶ). The default genre folders are: Pops (ポップス), Animation & Game (アニメ/ゲーム), and Variety (バラエティ).
- In 2014, the GUMI 5th Anniversary party and U.M.U×BEMANI folders were added.
- On March 11th, 2015, the ひなビタ♪ folder was added.
- A total of 22 songs released during DanceDanceRevolution (2013) from December 19th, 2013 to February 25th, 2014 were retrospectively moved to the DanceDanceRevolution (2014) folder.
- Included are the 14 songs from Nettou! BEMANI Stadium (熱闘！BEMANIスタジアム), the 5 songs from TAG生誕祭 event along with Dispersion Star, 星屑のキロク, and 回レ！雪月花.
- ever snow's and Sacred Oath's jackets were changed to remove NAOKI and jun from them, due to their departure from KONAMI in 2013.
- All of the system music have been slightly re-arranged from their 2013 versions; now they sound closer to the game's theme song Another Phase.
- The EDIT data link function was revived on June 6th, 2014.
- BPM sort was absent until June 23rd, 2014.
- First DanceDanceRevolution game since DanceDanceRevolution X2 to have an U.S. location test, which took place from August 4th, 2015 to August 17th, 2015 (at Round 1 Bowling and Amusement, Puente Hills Mall, in City of Industry, California), and again from August 18th, 2015 to September 7th, 2015 (at Dave & Buster's, in Irvine, California).
- The interface received a near-complete English translation based on the partial translation used in the Korean version.
- A total of 47 songs were removed which include all of the U.M.U×BEMANI songs, 6 licenses from DanceDanceRevolution (2013), all licenses from DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX, and all Dancemania licenses in DanceDanceRevolution and DanceDanceRevolution 2ndMIX.
- RINON returned as a playable character, after being removed in DanceDanceRevolution (2013).

YuniverHills project (ユニバーヒルズproject)
The YuniverHills project (ユニバーヒルズproject) event started on November 17th, 2014. The event consists on building an apartment to get more residents on it. This can be done by playing a set of three daily songs that are shown when you play (you can also check them by pressing the 4 button on the numeric keypad on the song select screen). After getting a certain number of residents, you will unlock certain charts of a song, starting with BEGINNER and BASIC, then DIFFICULT, and finally EXPERT. For a list of the daily songs, please see this page.
Since April 1st, 2015, Starlight Fantasia (Endorphins Mix) can now be added to EXTRA ATTACK by reaching 1 million residents.
Since July 16th, 2015, with Premium Play, you can continue at your own pace.
This event will end on December 2nd, 2015.
Note: the building progression of both Single and Double is shared, and once you unlock a certain chart(s), you will unlock them for both Single and Double as well.

PON no unmei jouka keikaku (PONの運命浄化計画)
The PON no unmei jouka keikaku (PONの運命浄化計画) event started on December 24th, 2014, to commemorate the release of the Power Of Nature album. To unlock the event songs, you must obtain the different attributes of the "powers of nature" (自然の力). By increasing the attributes, you also increase the fate purification probability.
Then, by accessing the event website (which can be found here), you can press the "fate purification challenge" (運命浄化チャレンジ) button. If the purification is successful, you will unlock the song(s).
To unlock the pop'n music crossovers in other BEMANI games, you must obtain the Earth Purification (大地の浄化) power by playing pop'n music ラピストリア.
This event ended on October 26th, 2015. The following song can be unlocked in EXTRA ATTACK since October 29th, 2015.

BOSS ON PARADE
The BOSS ON PARADE event began on January 22nd, 2015. The player has to earn medals and jewels, in order to unlock a crossover from other BEMANI series (beatmania IIDX, GuitarFreaks & DrumMania, jubeat, pop'n music, and REFLEC BEAT), plus a final boss song.
Each of the five crossover songs requires 10 medals in order to be played once during a FINAL STAGE inside the BOSS ON PARADE folder. In order to earn one medal, the player has to play a medal-supported song. Only one medal per song can be obtained; after that, a notice (メダル獲得済, medal already obtained) will appear on top of the song jacket.
Playing a boss song will earn the player two jewels in exchange for the medals earned for that particular song. Jewels act as permanent medals and by collecting 10, the boss song will be unlocked for normal play. In short, each boss song has to be played 5 times in order to be unlocked: 10 medals for the first play, 8 medals for the second play, 6 medals for the third play, 4 medals for the fourth play, and 2 medals for the fifth play.
Finally, in order to unlock the final boss song, all the other boss songs have to be unlocked for normal play. On the next game, a congratulations screen will appear and the final song will be added in the BOSS ON PARADE folder.
On February 4th, 2015, the list of medal-supported songs was revealed on the official website. On February 16th, 2015, requirements for the event have been made easier:
- Medal-supported songs are now indicated with a メダル対象 (Medal Target) tooltip at the Music Select screen.
- Playing songs that are not medal-supported will give ¼ of a medal.
- It is now possible to play medal-supported songs repeatedly.
Note that whenever the five boss songs are played as FINAL STAGEs, the LIFE4 option is automatically turned on.
As of July 2nd, 2015, 8 medals are required instead of 10, making unlocking the songs easier.
Medal-supported Songs
Each boss song has a special rule in order to determine which songs are medal-supported:

- Plan 8: Songs from beatmania IIDX featuring the word HAPPY in the genre name.
- クリムゾンゲイト: Song titles related to the color red. The possible keywords are FIRE, RED, BURN, 紅 ("aka", meaning red/scarlet), Phoenix or クリムゾン (crimson). The only exception is FIRE FIRE as it's used for 海神.
- Remain: All the songs found in the pop'n music folder with kors k or wac as the artist or composer.
- FUNKY SUMMER BEACH: Original songs from jubeat transplanted in DanceDanceRevolution that aren't used by the other boss songs.

Replicant D-ignition
Replicant D-ignition was first announced at the JAEPO 2015 event, and is the sequel to Replicant D-action from DanceDanceRevolution X2. A preliminary announcement movie was released on February 18th, 2015 featuring "The Dark One" and RINON, who is seen fusing six colored orbs into her body. The event started on March 5th, 2015.
Note: Truare!, the final song of BOSS ON PARADE, has to be unlocked and cleared on the EXTRA STAGE first (the difficulty played in clearing Truare! doesn't matter).
Since August 6th, 2015, all Replicant D-ignition songs can be unlocked via EXTRA ATTACK. Unlocking and clearing Truare! is still required, though.
NITRO vials
The first goal is to fill the five NITRO (ニトロ) vials. Each NITRO vial is related to a song:
- Destination: Green vial.
- Samurai Shogun vs. Master Ninja: Red vial.
- Sand Blow: Yellow vial.
- HAPPY☆LUCKY☆YEAPPY: White vial.
- chaos eater: Blue vial.
You can choose which vial to fill at the end of each game session, the order on which the vials are filled have no importance. Filling subsequent vials also require more NITRO than the previous filled vial: 4,000 NITRO for the first vial, 6,000 for the 2nd, 8,000 for the 3rd, 10,000 for the 4th, and 12,000 for the 5th. NITRO is obtained by fulfilling various conditions:

From July 23rd, 2015 to August 6th, 2015, the amount of NITRO obtained was doubled, allowing easier access to the Replicant D-ignition boss songs.
Since August 6th, 2015, when you fill up a NITRO vial of any color, the song corresponding to its color will appear in the EXTRA ATTACK folder.
Orbs
Once at least one vial have been filled, the Replicant D-ignition folder will appear in the EXTRA STAGE. Once opened, it cannot be exited. The background music and background will also change to a darker mood. The next goal is to obtain 5 orbs (オーブ) by clearing the new songs found in the folder with a AA rank or above on EXPERT. When playing the Replicant D-ignition songs, the player's character is replaced by RINON. One exception to this is in VERSUS PLAY: if one player has not finished the BOSS ON PARADE event yet, their character will appear like normal. Also, none of the songs have a preview when selecting them, neither do they have their true BPM displayed, unlike in Replicant D-action.
After obtaining 5 orbs, EGOISM 440 will appear in the Replicant D-ignition folder. After playing it, all the orbs will be lost (regardless of clearing the song or not) and will have to be collected again in order to play the song again. By clearing EGOISM 440 with AA or higher, MAX.(period) will be the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, with "The Dark One" being the player's character. An introduction video featuring RINON fusing the six orbs before transforming into "The Dark One" is shown before the song. Before the 2nd Phase, the standard Thank You For Playing screen was changed to an image of "The Dark One" in the background with "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING" and "NEXT PHASE WILL BE COMING SOON!" written on it. Clearing MAX.(period) as the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE unlocks "The Dark One" as a selectable dancer.
The 2nd Phase of Replicant D-ignition started on March 26th, 2015. MAX.(period) must be cleared as the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE in order to trigger the 2nd Phase. The orbs that have to be collected again are now a darker color. MAX.(period) can also now be accessed as an EXTRA STAGE song, along with its new CHALLENGE charts. Clearing MAX.(period)'s CHALLENGE chart with AA or higher unlocks Over The “Period” as the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE. An introduction video featuring "The Dark One" being reverted back to RINON before the six orbs are ejected from her body is shown before the song. During the 2nd Phase, if the player's character is neither RINON nor "The Dark One", their character will appear like normal, with RINON appearing as a backup dancer in Over The “Period” and "The Dark One" appearing on every other song. However, if the player plays EGOISM 440, their character will still be replaced by RINON like in the 1st Phase. Clearing MAX.(period) as the EXTRA STAGE unlocks RINON as a selectable dancer.
From July 2nd, 2015 onwards, when Over The “Period” is cleared as the ENCORE EXTRA STAGE, the standard Thank You For Playing screen is changed into an image of RINON walking into a white light with the words "Replicant D-ignition" and "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING" written on it. Should the player re-enter Replicant D-ignition after clearing Over The “Period”, the orbs that have to be collected again are now a brighter color instead of a darker color.
As of April 9th, 2015, orbs can now be obtained by obtaining a AA rank or higher on DIFFICULT as well. The difficulty that will be played on Over The “Period” depends on the difficulty you cleared MAX.(period) on during the EXTRA STAGE:
- Clearing MAX.(period)'s CHALLENGE chart leads to Over The “Period” being played on DIFFICULT.
- Clearing MAX.(period)'s EXPERT chart leads to Over The “Period” being played on BASIC.
As of May 1st, 2015, orbs can now be obtained by obtaining a AA rank or higher on BASIC as well. Clearing MAX.(period)'s DIFFICULT chart as the EXTRA STAGE leads to Over The “Period” being played on BEGINNER. However, on Double Play, where BEGINNER is not available, Over The “Period” will be played on BASIC instead.
As of July 2nd, 2015, orbs can now be obtained by obtaining a AA rank or higher on any difficulty. Clearing MAX.(period)'s BASIC chart as the EXTRA STAGE leads to Over The “Period” being played on BEGINNER. However, on Double Play, where BEGINNER is not available, Over The “Period” will be played on BASIC instead.
Since August 6th, 2015, neither RINON nor "The Dark One" are no longer unlockable for those who did not unlock them during the event.
Unlockable Songs
Since August 6th, 2015, the following songs can be unlocked via EXTRA ATTACK, unlocked in this order: the NITRO vial-unlockable songs (chaos eater, Destination, HAPPY☆LUCKY☆YEAPPY, Samurai Shogun vs. Master Ninja, and Sand Blow; they can be unlocked in any order)→EGOISM 440 (up to EXPERT)→MAX.(period) (up to EXPERT)→Over The “Period”→MAX.(period) (CHALLENGE charts)→EGOISM 440 (CHALLENGE charts).
It is worth noting that the Replicant D-ignition boss songs use special background stages: the NITRO vial-unlockable songs use the same background stages as the BOSS ON PARADE songs, but colored according to the color of their respective NITRO vial. EGOISM 440 and Over The “Period” use a darker color version of the cyan Replicant D-action dance stage, while MAX.(period) uses a midnight blue version of Valkyrie dimension's pink Replicant D-action dance stage.

EXTRA STAGE / ATTACK
The EXTRA STAGE returned with the same Result Star system first seen in DanceDanceRevolution X3 VS 2ndMIX. Once again, the LIFE GAUGE modifier is restricted during EXTRA STAGE and this time, it is set to LIFE4.
On August 13th, 2014, the red Result Star (★) given when clearing a song is now also given when using the LIFE GAUGE modifier RISKY or LIFE4.
EXTRA ATTACK
The EXTRA ATTACK unlocking method allows the players to unlock EXTRA STAGE-only songs available on the EXTRA ATTACK folder. By playing songs in the EXTRA ATTACK folder, the SURVIVED BONUS meter will increase for the selected difficulty. Once the meter is completely filled, the song will be unlocked on that difficulty (and all the lower difficulties, if applicable) for normal play. The SURVIVED BONUS meter of a song carries between games using e-AMUSEMENT. The EXTRA ATTACK requires that the Single and Double charts of the songs have to be unlocked separately and that only BEGINNER to EXPERT charts can be unlocked. Once the songs have been unlocked, they are added to the DanceDanceRevolution (2014) folder.
- The TAG seitansai's (TAG生誕祭) songs (ÆTHER, esrev:eR, and SABER WING (satellite silhouette remix)) that weren't unlocked by players in DanceDanceRevolution (2013) are added to the EXTRA ATTACK folder by default.
- Only for EXTRA ATTACK-unlockable songs released as part of events (GUMI 5th Anniversary party Presented by BEMANI, TAG大生誕祭, BEMANI×TOHO project REITAISAI 2015, and Replicant D-ignition) the SURVIVED BONUS meter has to be filled on BEGINNER, then BASIC, DIFFICULT, and then finally EXPERT.
- As of July 24th, 2014, it is now possible to unlock the 熱闘！BEMANIスタジアム songs via EXTRA ATTACK. IX's CHALLENGE charts will be available for unlock via EXTRA ATTACK after unlocking its lower difficulties.
- As of July 23rd, 2015, it is now possible to unlock the 発見！よみがえったBEMANI遺跡 songs via EXTRA ATTACK. JOMANDA's and 嘆きの樹's CHALLENGE charts will be available for unlock via EXTRA ATTACK after unlocking their lower difficulties.
- As of August 6th, 2015, it is now possible to unlock the Replicant D-ignition songs via EXTRA ATTACK. CHALLENGE charts for MAX.(period) and EGOISM 440 can be unlocked after unlocking Over The “Period”'s EXPERT charts and the former song's CHALLENGE charts, respectively.
- As of October 29th, 2015, it is now possible to unlock Electronic or Treat! if you didn't unlock it via the PONの運命浄化計画 event.
- As of November 5th, 2015, it is now possible to unlock the BEMANI SUMMER DIARY 2015 songs via EXTRA ATTACK. These songs are added weekly.
From September 18th, 2014 to October 16th, 2014, a special campaign named Aki no daishuukakusai (秋の大収穫祭, Big Harvest Festival of Autumn) was added to the game. By playing any song, a bonus ranging from +1 to +4 LIFE was given depending on a few requirements. The EXTRA LIFE acquired were added by Dance Level and the total could be seen by pressing "4" on the num. pad to access the event panel. These EXTRA LI[V]E[S] were then available to use during EXTRA ATTACK. Usually the LIFE GAUGE modifier was locked to LIFE4 but with this event, it was possible to increase the number of LIFE to any number as long as the players had enough EXTRA LIFE.
Oni no EXTRA ATTACK (鬼のEXTRA ATTACK)
From August 15th, 2014, to September 12th, 2014, CHALLENGE charts for Din Don Dan, Elysium, IMANOGUILTS, SABER WING (satellite silhouette remix), ちゅ～いん☆バニー, and ヤマトなでなで♡かぐや姫 could be unlocked as part of the Oni no EXTRA ATTACK (鬼のEXTRA ATTACK) event. These charts will appear on the EXTRA STAGE in the 鬼のEXTRA ATTACK folder if the song's lower difficulties were completely unlocked previously via EXTRA ATTACK. When playing a song in the 鬼のEXTRA ATTACK folder, the LIFE GAUGE modifier is set to RISKY: One Miss or N.G. will result in a GAME OVER.
From October 16th, 2014, to November 13th, 2014, CHALLENGE charts for Kind Lady, Malacca, PARANOiA KCET ～clean mix～, and Tribe, as well as the KONAMI Arcade Championship 2013 CHALLENGE charts, could be unlocked by the same above method. When unlocked, these songs appear in their respective versions.
The CHALLENGE charts for these songs, along with the KONAMI Arcade Championship 2013 CHALLENGE charts, can be unlocked again from July 16th, 2015 onwards via EXTRA ATTACK instead. As they are now in the EXTRA ATTACK folder, playing them forces the LIFE GAUGE modifier on LIFE4 instead of RISKY, making the process of unlocking the charts easier.
Unlockable Songs
CHALLENGE charts are 鬼のEXTRA ATTACK-only. Since July 16th, 2015, CHALLENGE charts can be unlocked via EXTRA ATTACK instead.
※ Starlight Fantasia (Endorphins Mix) is unlockable again since 04/01/2015 for players who completed ユニバーヒルズproject. It was previously only available on TAG's birthday on 03/25/2015.
