== The | = HEROIC WORKOUT!! =
The | The HEROIC WORKOUT!! unlock event started on December 6th, 2019. The event will only appear if one player plays. [[e-amusement]] is required to play the event.
At the end of a credit, the player is presented with a list of five ROOMs. Each of the five ROOMs feature a training triangle, with each corner corresponding to two attributes of the NOTES RADAR. All of the songs played on that credit are shown in a list, and the song chosen will increase the training level by 4% (except for ROOM5, which is more accelerated) toward whichever aspect of that song's NOTES RADAR was the highest, marked as a star on the Music Select screen (songs with proficiencies of an aspect fills faster for a corresponding corner: NOTES/CHORD were categorized in the Body (体) level; PEAK/SOF-LAN categorized under Heart (心); and CHARGE/SCRATCH under Technical (技)), with the other two increasing by around 0.8%. Upon reaching one of the corners of the triangle, the reward shown will be earned (a NORMAL, HYPER, or ANOTHER chart of the player's choice, or CHEER), and the triangle will expand to show the next reward for that side. If both Single and Double charts were played during the credit, the list will only show one of them. The list can be switched using the 3 key on the keypad. If the same song was played multiple times, it will only appear once on the list. Once all aspects of the training have reached 100%, the ROOM's boss will appear. ROOM1-3 take five credits to unlock the boss, while ROOM4,5, and FINAL take ten. Defeating the boss rewards both the final song of the ROOM and a Golden Tran Medal.
Using VIP PASS BLACK for a credit will increase all attributes by 8%, regardless of song selection.
Once you finish all five rooms, a final boss will appear. Defeat it to unlock [[EROICA]].
Unlocking EROICA ends the event and rewards you a Platinum Tran Medal.

- Theme: Superheroes and multiverse
- A new cabinet design, the LIGHTNING MODEL, has been introduced, marking the first major redesign of the beatmania IIDX cabinet since the series' debut.
- A new high refresh rate monitor has been added, making it the first BEMANI title to run at 120 FPS.
- Headphone jacks have been added underneath the key panels.
- The neon lamps and metal cage above the screen have been removed, replaced with plastic panels and RGB LED lighting.
- Cabinets ship with lighter keys by default, and the turntable resistance can now be adjusted.
- The effect sliders, LCD marquee and keypads have been replaced with a touchscreen called the Premium Area, located under the screen where the sliders used to be. There are three option menus available: sound, settings and news (the latter added in the January 23rd, 2020 update).
- Sound effectively emulates the effect sliders, along with added two new EQ sliders, Lower-Mid EQ and Hi-Mid EQ. Headphone volume and effectors can be adjusted here as well.
- Settings lets you adjust the turntable resistance, as well as the cabinet lighting.
- The news menu is divided into two sections, breaking news and Tsujigiri Battle. The breaking news tab serves as an archive of the news ticker on the song selection screen, and includes a button that jumps the cursor to the relevant song. The Tsujigiri Battle tab shows the number of players defeated using the feature, with separate totals for Single and Double play.
- A button to bring up the keypad menu is also available from any screen (besides ENTRY and GAME OVER screens), as the physical keypads have been removed.
- A toggle switch, named CONCENTRATION MODE, was added in the February 18th, 2020 update that turns the screen off during gameplay to avoid distraction. Touching the screen will turn it back on.
- Due to the removal of the slider panel, the Start buttons have been relocated to the upper-left and upper-right of the 1P and 2P keys respectively, and the VEFX and EFFECT buttons are located above the coin slot, as with 5-key beatmania machines.
- This cabinet also sports a brand new logo for the beatmania IIDX series as a whole.
- BEGINNER and LEGGENDARIA have been added as difficulties at opposite ends; existing † and BEGINNER charts have been merged into the main song listing and are no longer separate.
- The LEGGENDARIA difficulty won't be shown on songs without said charts, and BEGINNER doesn't show on songs in Double Play mode (as there are no Double BEGINNER charts).
- BEGINNER charts now appear in the level folders for the first time in STANDARD, all FREE modes, and ARENA mode.
- Playing LEGGENDARIA charts still requires V-Discs.
- The V-Disc cost has been reduced to 4 from 6.
- The ALL BEGINNER and LEGGENDARIA folders are still present, containing all songs with BEGINNER and LEGGENDARIA charts (without the †/†LEGGENDARIA labels), respectively.
- Both aforementioned charts are however ineligible for participation on WEEKLY RANKING if said song has either BEGINNER or LEGGENDARIA.
- The clear lamp system has slightly changed:
- Regular CLEARs are now shown in light blue, regardless of song difficulty.
- All FAILED lamps are shown in flickering red, regardless of song difficulty.
- BEGINNER charts can now display any type of clear lamp (including ASSIST, HARD and EX-HARD), rather than only displaying a green EASY CLEAR/FULL COMBO lamp.
- A new feature, NOTES RADAR, has been added, filling a similar purpose to the GROOVE RADAR in the DanceDanceRevolution series. The parameters are:
- NOTES: average note density.
- PEAK: highest note density in a single section.
- SCRATCH: average scratch density.
- CHARGE: number of (Hell) Charge Notes and Backspin Scratches.
- CHORD: number of chords in the song.
- SOF-LAN: number of or severity of BPM changes.
- A star next to the label indicates the song's strongest aspect, determined by the highest value from all the parameters.
- Unlike DanceDanceRevolution, the color of the radar is based on the difficulty itself, instead of by player.
- Along with the NOTES RADAR comes MY NOTES RADAR, similar to the MY GROOVE RADAR from the DanceDanceRevolution series.
- Like NOTES RADAR, the color of the radar is determined by the player's strongest parameter.
- A news ticker has been added to the top left of the song select screen, showing when players achieve things such as a new high score or full combo.
- This feature is unavailable in STEP UP.
- Initially, this feature was untranslated regardless of in-game language selected. English and Korean translations were added in a subsequent update in June 2020.
- The news ticker can be customized on the website. However, this requires an e-amusement basic subscription.
- The HI-SPEED system has been revised again:
- CLASSIC HI-SPEED option was added. It behaves like the HI-SPEED system prior to Rootage and ranges from 1 to 4 in increments of 0.5 and from 2 to 4 in increments of 0.25. Requires an e-amusement basic subscription.
- Rootage's HI-SPEED option now has 20 settings.
- The FLOATING HI-SPEED adjustments can now be done in increments of 0.25, from 0.5 to 10.
- Timing adjustments can now be done in increments of 0.05.
- A new mode, Eisei Dan (永世段位), has been added exclusively for LIGHTNING MODEL cabinets. This mode allows you to re-challenge Dan courses that you have previously cleared, with added restrictions.
- In order to pass the Eisei Dan version, you must clear the course 5 times in a row. Failing once will reset your progress.
- Each attempt cycles between playing the course regularly and with MIRROR on.
- Your gauge is limited to the lowest value it reached during your previous attempt (e.g. if your gauge reached 42% on your first attempt, the gauge on your second attempt will be limited to 42%).
- Once you've passed the 5th attempt, you will pass the Eisei Dan course and a gold glow will be added to your Dan ranking on the login/logout screen. If you've cleared a Dan course higher than your current Eisei Dan ranking, your normal Dan rank will be shown instead.
- A new random option, M-RAN, is now available when playing with two players. Both players get the same random, however the 2P side is mirrored.
- Play style selection screen has been removed; now it's only possible to switch between Single and Double play modes by pressing [3] on the keypad.
- Single and Double modes can now be switched between in CLASS and STEP UP modes, and the SELECT GAME MODE screen.
- In-game text language selection has been added as an option: Korean, English and Japanese are available choices (EFFECT button in ENTRY screen to switch languages).
- It is also the first beatmania IIDX game translated into English since GOLD's US location test.
- In the English translation, Hell Charge Note and Hell Backspin Scratch are called to Special Charge Note and Special Backspin Scratch, respectively.
- Both STEP UP and ARENA modes, events, Tran Medals, text regarding PASELI-only options (including PREMIUM FREE and DJ VIP PASS GOLD/PLATINUM descriptions), network issues, shop closures, and LIGHTNING MODEL interface remain untranslated. Some of these would later receive proper English or Korean translations in subsequent updates.
- It is also the first beatmania IIDX game translated into English since GOLD's US location test.
- All non-FLOOR INFECTION songs from CANNON BALLERS, Surf on the Light and hidden Rootage songs A Tale Hidden In The Abyss, GIGA THRASH, and グラナダの風, are now playable by default.
- First beatmania IIDX game since their debuts with no DJ Noriken, DJ TOTTO, Kanae Asaba, or USAO songs on the default song list.
- First beatmania IIDX game since 8th style with no newly composed/arranged song by Ryu☆.
- First beatmania IIDX game since GOLD with no newly composed/arranged song by 猫叉Master.
- First beatmania IIDX game since Resort Anthem with no new CS beatmania IIDX crossovers.
- First beatmania IIDX game since SPADA with no ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE songs.
- First beatmania IIDX arcade game to have a proper North American release.
- The version is similar to Asian and Korean cabinets, as the cabinets do not support PASELI and EXTRA STAGE can still be accessed.
- Final beatmania IIDX arcade game to use Money Score in gameplay; newer arcade releases use EX Score instead.
- New songs are colored in yellow.
- In-game currency is CHEER.
- System BGM is composed by HuΣeR.
- The ARENA Mode BGM has been slightly re-arranged from the past two versions.
- System voices are provided by Himmel and Siren, voiced by Yukana and Hideki Tasaka respectively.
- First beatmania IIDX game since 4th style to have a character shown in the title screen, in the case, Siren in his Powered Suit EAGLE form.
- Also, unlike the previous installment, one of the two system voices is selected at random upon starting the game.
- e-amusement support for beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE ended on January 12th, 2021.
- The Today's Featured Songs continued to display in the official website until November 7th, 2021, after which the list no longer displays.

SHADOW REBELLION
SHADOW REBELLION is beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE's EXTRA STAGE system, introduced on November 14th, 2019. For Japanese version machines, this only appears on PREMIUM START (which requires PASELI).
To be able to access the event folders, the player must collect three Shadow Gems; one can be earned for every credit played, regardless of the mode selected. After the requirement has been met, the folders can be accessed through the standard EXTRA STAGE requirements.
By clearing songs under the SHADOW REBELLION folders for the EXTRA STAGE, more Shadow Gems can be earned, which are used to unlock charts for play outside the EXTRA STAGE as well as for additional bonuses.
- One Shadow Gem unlocks the NORMAL chart outside of EXTRA STAGE.
- Two Shadow Gems unlocks the HYPER chart outside of EXTRA STAGE.
- Three Shadow Gems unlocks the ANOTHER chart outside of EXTRA STAGE.
- Five Shadow Gems unlocks a special Q-pro set based on the character of the song in question (except for Dans la nuit de l'éternité, which requires all other SHADOW REBELLION Q-pro sets unlocked in advance).

HEROIC WORKOUT!!
The HEROIC WORKOUT!! unlock event started on December 6th, 2019. The event will only appear if one player plays. e-amusement is required to play the event.
Defeat it to unlock EROICA.
Unlocking EROICA ends the event and rewards you a Platinum Tran Medal.

WEEKLY RANKING
The WEEKLY RANKING feature was added to beatmania IIDX 27 HEROIC VERSE on October 30th, 2019. The WEEKLY RANKING song changes every Wednesday at 12:00 noon.
You earn a star (the day after the period for a song ends) if your score in the leaderboards for the featured song's chart is high enough. Note that stars depend on each song's chart on both single and double play, not on the whole song itself, which means you can earn up to six stars per song.
In the songlist menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the featured song's chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards:
- White star: if the arrow is located in the white section.
- Bronze star: if the arrow is located in the cyan section.
- Silver star: if the arrow is located in the gray section.
- Gold star: if the arrow is located in the yellow section.
- Platinum star: if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (top 10 in the leaderboards).
