Profile
One of the biggest names in all of BEMANI, Takayuki Ishikawa joined KONAMI in April 1998 as one of the first students in the newly-established KCE School Tokyo branch. [1] His first musical project for KONAMI was the soundtrack to the 1998 PlayStation game Dolphin's Dream (also known as Diver's Dream in Europe). His first BEMANI project was beatmania IIDX, which he joined around October 1998 to help with struggling production. [2] After graduating from KCE School in early 1999, Takayuki became a permanent staff member of the series, becoming the head sound director of beatmania IIDX starting with beatmania IIDX substream, a position he held until beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED (though he continued to be a co-sound director of the series up until beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS).
Takayuki is well-known in beatmania IIDX for his trance and techno songs, the latter under his D.J.SETUP alias. Many of the series' most well-known songs, including Abyss, .59, A, 嘆きの樹, V, and sync, were written by him. In addition to beatmania IIDX, Takayuki has also been a regular contributor to pop'n music since pop'n music 5 while occasionally writing music for other BEMANI series, most notably GuitarFreaks & DrumMania. He has also written rock, drum'n'bass, happy hardcore, and pop for BEMANI as well. After stepping down as a sound director of beatmania IIDX, Takayuki was also briefly the sound producer of several DanceDanceRevolution, pop'n music, and REFLEC BEAT games from 2010 through 2014.
Takayuki is currently the sound producer of the SOUND VOLTEX series.
