IIDX AIR RACE is beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS' EXTRA STAGE system. For Japanese version machines, this only appears on PREMIUM START (which requires [[PASELI]]). The event began on February 1st, 2018. | |||
Like previous EXTRA STAGE systems in beatmania IIDX, the sum of difficulty levels, DJ LEVEL, and clear type are the main requirements to unlock a IIDX AIR RACE song for EXTRA STAGE. All the charts are playable from the first day of a IIDX AIR RACE song's appearance. | |||
AIR RACE songs are separated in groups. A group consists of three EXTRA STAGE songs plus an ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, with one EXTRA STAGE song added in every five weeks. Once the third EXTRA STAGE song appears, it is possible to unlock the group's songs for regular play by clearing their charts (with HARD CLEAR, CLEAR, EASY CLEAR or ASSIST CLEAR gauges, depending on the respective phase). | |||

AIR RACE | By clearing the IIDX AIR RACE with an EX-HARD gauge (or with a FULL COMBO) and a AAA rank, the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE will be automatically accessed. It will retain the options used on the EXTRA STAGE, including gauge type and if it was played on Single or Double. Once all sections of a certain group are available, it can be accessed by collecting badges by clearing all of the associated songs on a specific difficulty with a clearing requirement (see table above). | ||
A Gold Tran Medal is received for clearing all songs under their respective group. | |||

The ''WEEKLY RANKING'' feature in beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS | The ''WEEKLY RANKING'' feature in beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS was added on January 24th, 2018. WEEKLY RANKING sessions last for a week, with Wednesday at 12:00 pm being the beginning and as well as the deadline in the successive week. | ||
You earn a star (the day after a WEEKLY RANKING period for a song ends) if your score in the leaderboards for a specific WEEKLY RANKING song's chart is high enough. Note that stars depend on each song's chart, not on the whole song itself, which means you can earn up to three stars per Weekly song. A new tier added in this version is the White star. | |||
In the | In the song list menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the chosen Weekly song's chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards: | ||
* '''White star:''' if the arrow is located in the white section. | * '''White star:''' if the arrow is located in the white section (within 75% in the leaderboards). | ||
* '''Bronze star:''' if the arrow is located in the cyan section. | * '''Bronze star:''' if the arrow is located in the cyan section (within 50% in the leaderboards). | ||

* '''Gold star:''' if the arrow is located in the yellow section. | * '''Gold star:''' if the arrow is located in the yellow section (within 10% in the leaderboards). | ||
* '''Platinum star:''' if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (top 10 in the leaderboards). | * '''Platinum star:''' if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (within top 10 in the leaderboards). | ||

- The location test was stopped early, due to a threatening Twitter message. The full story can be read here. KONAMI cancelled the location test for security purposes, making it the first beatmania IIDX location test to be prematurely stopped.
- Release dates:
- Japan: December 21st, 2017
- Singapore: December 26th, 2017
- Hong Kong & Macao: December 27th, 2017
- Taiwan: January 3rd, 2018
- Philippines: January 11th, 2018
- Thailand: January 17th, 2018
- South Korea: February 12th, 2018
- Soundtrack release: March 7th, 2018
- Discs three and four contain songs from beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ not released on its own soundtrack.
- Songs from CANNON BALLERS not present on the soundtrack were released as part of the beatmania IIDX 26 Rootage ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK.
- Slogan: 『音』束に乗れ! 享『楽』のレコードライン! ("on"soku ni nore! kyou"raku" no RECORD LINE!)
- The slogan translates to "Ride the sound flux! Record line of "pleasure"!".
- Two emphasized kanji make the word 音楽 (ongaku), meaning "music".
- 『音』束 means "sound" flux, which is the quantity of sound passing through a surface, but it's also a wordplay on 音速, meaning "speed of sound"
- Theme: racing
- This version's STEP UP mode is themed around your Q-Pro becoming the ultimate winning driver in the Step Up GRAND PRIX.
General Information / Changes
- The title is derived from the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, a series of illegal cross-country races held in America during the 1970s.
- First beatmania IIDX title since Resort Anthem to have a subtitle with more than one word.
- First beatmania IIDX title since Lincle to have "The ultimate system beatmania deluxe version" tag written in the logo.
- First beatmania IIDX title adding Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand on the e-amusement region selection when transferring or registering an e-amusement PASS with beatmania IIDX.
- New songs are displayed in a green font.
- Two new modes:
- TIME HELL, where you can't recover the groove gauge while playing. When available, it replaces HAZARD mode. Like TIME FREE and TIME HAZARD, it's only available on a certain day.
- ARENA mode, added on March 29th, 2018, a matching mode where four players compete against each other on a four-song set simultaneously.
- Local matchmaking is always available, while online matchmaking is only available in timed events (playing these comes with rewards such as LEG or revivals).
- If RANDOM is used, its effects on the charts will be the same for all four players.
- If TARGET SCORE is used, it only displays the ARENA target score.
- Vacant player spots are filled by the CPU.
- The NINJA RANK feature from SINOBUZ was renamed to DJ RANK, and has been expanded with more details and organizational options.
- In addition to the returning new songs and difficulty level ranks, there are also DJ RANK categories for the LEGGENDARIA folder, and a new SEASON DJ RANK folder.
- The SEASON DJ RANK folder contains a set of selected songs that will be changed out (and presumably the ranks will reset) for each season of the year.
- Each DJ RANK category also gives you a player ranking (similar to WEEKLY RANKING) compared to all other players of your same DAN rank.
- In-game currency is now called LEG.
- Purchasable currency is referred to as Nitro Boosters.
- Nitro Booster sales ended on October 28, 2018.
- The groove gauge can now be turned off, only showing the percentage. This is cosmetic; the groove gauge still functions as normal.
- Lane brightness can now be adjusted.
- Retry function for FREE modes can now be used by pressing 4 on the numeric keypad.
- Daily bonuses return from SINOBUZ, with some changes to the bonuses (these bonuses would apply to future versions as well):
- Sunday - One free DJ VIP PASS BLACK.
- Monday - One extra minute in PREMIUM FREE mode (for PASELI enabled locations only).
- Tuesday - TIME HAZARD mode enabled.
- Wednesday - TIME FREE / TIME FREE PLUS (2P) mode enabled.
- Thursday - TIME HELL mode enabled
- Friday - V-Disc bonus.
- The V-Disc cost for picking a song from the LEGGENDARIA folder and recovering from a failed song before FINAL STAGE is lowered to 1. This allows the LEGGENDARIA folder to be accessed by all players.
- EXTRA STAGE remains inaccessible in STANDARD MODE on Japanese machines, however.
- Saturday - No level restrictions in STEP UP mode.
- System voice lines added for STAGE selection and result screens.
- First game with the RECOMMENDED folder, containing any highlighted songs (such as KONAMI Arcade Championship's qualification songs, WEEKLY RANKING song, and three DAILY FEATURED SONGS).
- First game since GOLD to use a traditional number meter for the difficulty level, though it is now integrated along with the number in a block display which is also the basis since DJ TROOPERS.
- The LEGGENDARIA folder is no longer limited to just EXTRA STAGE.
- The game's internal hardware has been heavily upgraded, for the first time since tricoro. Audio drivers are also changed.
- Two built-in cameras for hand-shooting have been added, one on the metal cage in front of the neons pointed at the controls, and one to the left of the screen pointed at the player(s). Initially the game would not boot up if the cameras weren't attached; this was fixed after initial release.
- The bass stage artwork has also been changed for new cabinets, now using a solid blue scheme.
- Six new VEFX options added: COMPRESSOR, CHORUS, GARGLE, REVERB EX, FLANGER, and DISTORTION.
- PITCH VEFX option is removed.
- All unlocks from beatmania IIDX 23 copula and the † chart unlocks from beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ are available by default.
- All other unlocks from beatmania IIDX 24 SINOBUZ are still hidden, including Expert course-exclusive songs. As of March 29th, 2018, they can be purchased with LEG via CBS License (CBSライセンス) (except for Surf on the Light).
- First beatmania IIDX game since their debuts with no songs from DJ Genki or DJ Shimamura.
- Also the first since her debut with no song sung by Kanako Hoshino, who had been a series staple since beatmania IIDX 11 IIDX RED.
- Only game since beatmania IIDX 19 Lincle to not use the traditional STAGE FAILED sound effect. This would be reverted in the next arcade release.
- Players using an eAMUSEMENT PASS can no longer register a "home shop" when playing at a specific location. Instead, your SHOP RANKING scores will always be recorded for the location you are currently playing.
- Level 12 charts for default songs were made playable on January 11th, 2018.
- In-house VJs are not credited on the official website. This would be reverted in the next arcade release.
- EXPERT was added on May 24th, 2018.
- System BGM is composed by dj TAKA, and the ARENA BGM is composed by HuΣeR.
- The system voice is provided by Icchou Mori (森一丁).
- Mori's voice is also available for folder voices, after purchasing the Icchou Mori (森一丁) category voice at Pit (ピット) with LEG. The price is 250,000 LEG, the most expensive item in this game.
- e-amusement support for beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS ended on February 4th, 2019.
- Total number of songs: 1160 (plus 45 LEGGENDARIA charts)

IIDX AIR RACE
IIDX AIR RACE is beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS' EXTRA STAGE system. For Japanese version machines, this only appears on PREMIUM START (which requires PASELI).
The conditions to access IIDX AIR RACE change based on the Phase it is in.
Phase | NORMAL | HYPER | ANOTHER | Unlock Requirement | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | Total Level | DJ LEVEL | Clear Lamp | ||||
Phase 1 | 24 | A or better | EX-HARD CLEAR or better | 30 | AA or better | FULL COMBO | 34 | AAA | FULL COMBO | HARD CLEAR or better | ||
Phase 2 | 21 | A or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 27 | AA or better | EX-HARD CLEAR or better | 31 | AAA | EX-HARD CLEAR or better | CLEAR or better | ||
Phase 3 | 18 | B or better | CLEAR or better | 24 | A or better | HARD CLEAR or better | 28 | AA or better | HARD CLEAR or better | EASY CLEAR or better | ||
Phase 4 | 15 | B or better | CLEAR or better | 21 | A or better | CLEAR or better | 25 | AA or better | CLEAR or better | ASSIST CLEAR or better | ||
Phase 5 | 12 | Any grade | CLEAR or better | 18 | B or better | CLEAR or better | 22 | A or better | CLEAR or better | |||
If RANDOM is used, all three songs must be cleared with a rank on AAA and an EX-HARD CLEAR or FULL COMBO (for Phase 1, a FULL COMBO is required to unlock HYPER and ANOTHER). |
By clearing the IIDX AIR RACE with an EX-HARD gauge (or with a FULL COMBO) and a AAA rank, the ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE will be automatically accessed.
The IIDX AIR RACE FINAL LAP is available from September 27th, 2018. It requires the Gekisou! Cannon racer (激走!キャノンレーサー) event to be completed and IIDX AIR RACE song badges under a specific difficulty (depending on which difficulty you want to play the FINAL LAP song on) to be obtained. Once the requirements are satisfied, you have to play an entire credit (including EXTRA STAGE) of IIDX AIR RACE and/or Gekisou! Cannon racer songs with a sum of all difficulty levels in order to unlock the final ONE MORE EXTRA STAGE, by also meeting the aforementioned Phase unlock conditions. The minimum levels are as follows:
Phase | NORMAL | HYPER | ANOTHER |
---|---|---|---|
Phase 1 | 32 | 40 | 45 |
Phase 2 | 28 | 36 | 41 |

Gekisou! Cannon racer (激走!キャノンレーサー)
Gekisou! Cannon racer (激走!キャノンレーサー) is beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS' unlock event. It began on January 25th, 2018, with a second continent following on March 1st, a third May 10th, 2018, and a final one on July 26th, 2018. e-amusement is required to start the event. This event appears at the end of any mode with one player.
The objective of the event is to race against rival cars. To do so you must obtain Tune Points (チューンポイント). Playing a song gives you Tune Points, and the amount of points depends on which mode you are playing (regardless of clearing or failing the song):
- STANDARD / Dani nintei / HAZARD / ARENA: 250 points (from one to four songs)
- STEP UP: 334 points (three songs)
- FREE: 500 points (two songs)
- PREMIUM FREE: 250 points for the first five songs, 20 for each additional song
- FREE PLUS: 500 points (three songs)
- HAZARD: 250 points (four songs)
- TIME FREE: 500 points for the first two songs, 20 for each additional song
- TIME FREE PLUS: 500 points for the first three songs, 20 for each additional song
- TIME HAZARD and TIME HELL: 250 points for the first four songs, 20 for each additional song
The first continent has a cap of 40,000 Tune Points, with the second and third having caps of 80,000 and 120,000 Tune Points respectively.
At the event screen, you can customize your car with the 2, 4, and 6 keys for body, engine, and tire parts respectively. Customizing your car will increase/decrease its performance, depending on the parts used. Better parts will consume more fuel during races, but will give you a better performance and more chances to win races.
After racing against a rival car, fuel (depending on your car and its parts) is consumed. Your car will then advance on the rally (100km by default, plus 50km if you won a race, and an extra 20km if Nitro Booster was used). Once it reaches a checkpoint, you will receive one chart of a selected song. With the exceptions of bosses and rare enemy drops, any song can be unlocked on any continent.
CS songs and † charts can be unlocked by beating rare enemies. Note that if you haven't unlocked them by the time you finish a continent, they will be automatically unlocked.
- First continent
- Usual Days-remix: beat Mamonis & Vega.
- RED ZONE†: beat Kneeso-hime.
- Second continent
- Third continent

- The Revolution (VIP Mix): beat Karasu.
- Fourth continent

Final continent: Initiation
Finishing each of the first three continents earns you a Gold Tran Medal. Completing the fourth and final continent ends the event and earns you a Platinum Tran Medal.

ARENA MODE
ARENA MODE is a new, timed mode in beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS. In this mode, the player and three others each choose a song and compete for the highest EX score across four stages. Two points are awarded for first place, one for second, and none for third and fourth. Whoever has the most points at the end of a round wins. Getting points unlocks ARENA CUBES; acquiring 50 ARENA CUBES will unlock hidden songs. Note that if three human players cannot be found online or in local play, CPU players will take their place instead.

WEEKLY RANKING
The WEEKLY RANKING feature in beatmania IIDX 25 CANNON BALLERS was added on January 24th, 2018.
In the song list menu, a bar shows your WEEKLY RANKING star progress on the chosen Weekly song's chart; the arrow determines your current position in the leaderboards:
- White star: if the arrow is located in the white section (within 75% in the leaderboards).
- Bronze star: if the arrow is located in the cyan section (within 50% in the leaderboards).
- Silver star: if the arrow is located in the gray section (within 25% in the leaderboards).
- Gold star: if the arrow is located in the yellow section (within 10% in the leaderboards).
- Platinum star: if the arrow is located in the very small blue section (within top 10 in the leaderboards).
