beatmania IIDX Daninintei Courses
The Daninintei mode (段位認定モード, also known as Class or simply Dan) is a mode containing a series of courses ranked so that each course is harder than the last. The mode was first introduced in beatmania IIDX 7th style and is found in every beatmania IIDX games released since then.
The difficulty level of the highest rank course cleared is often used as an indicator of the overall strength of the player.
Modeled after the Dan (段) and Kyu (級) system for many martial art schools, players are ranked from 7th Kyu (the initiate level; 5th Kyu on Double Play prior to copula) all the way through 10th Dan (the highest rank attainable).
Each rank consists of a course of four songs (three on Double Play prior to copula).
In DistorteD, an extra rank above 10th Dan was added, called Kaiden (皆伝), that is designed to truly test a beatmania IIDX master's skills.
The following changes were made in copula:
- A new rank was added called Chuuden (中伝), as a bridge between 10th Dan and Kaiden.
- Double Play courses for 7th kyu and 6th kyu were added.
- Double Play courses were extended to 4 songs each.

Trivia
- A similar mode exists in other BEMANI games such as SKILL ANALYZER (スキルアナライザー) introduced in SOUND VOLTEX II -infinite infection-, Course Mode (コースモード) in jubeat saucer fulfill, pop'n License (ポップンライセンス) in pop'n music ラピストリア, and REFLEC Dojo (リフレク道場) and CLASS CHECK MODE in the REFLEC BEAT series.
- A few songs have been in every arcade beatmania IIDX Dan course ever since their respective introductions:
- THE SAFARI's Single HYPER as the FINAL STAGE of the Single Play 7th Dan course.
- 冥's Single ANOTHER as the FINAL STAGE of the Single Play Kaiden course.
- 卑弥呼's Single ANOTHER as the 3RD STAGE of the Single Play Kaiden course
- quasar's Double ANOTHER as the FINAL STAGE of the Double Play Kaiden course (except beatmania IIDX 13 DistorteD, being the 1ST STAGE)
- In beatmania IIDX 10th style's 8th Dan course, the intended 7KEYS charts for the songs were replaced by their respective (much more difficult) ANOTHER7 charts by mistake.
